YOUTH SOCIAL WORK

DEFINITION OF YOUTH
Youth is best understood as a period of transition from the dependence of
childhood to adulthoods independence. that why as a category youth is
more fluid than other fixed age-groups.
The united nation for statistical purposes defines youth as those persons
between the ages of 15 and 24 years,without prejudice to other definition
by member states.
The secretary general first referred to the current definition of youth in
1981 in his report to the general assembly on international youth para.
Statistics on Youth
 At the beginning of 2012,the world population surpassed 7 billion with people
under the age of 30 accounting for more than half of this number 50.5%.
 According to the survey,89.7% of people under 30 lived in emerging and developing
economies particularly in the middle east and Africa.
 There are at least 100 million street children globally an estimated 18 million of
these live in India which has the largest numbers of street children of any country
in the world.
 In 2012,india and china had the youngest population. According to the united
nations (UN) India, total population in forecast to overtake china by 2025.
 356 million 10-24 years-old india has the worlds largest youth population despite
having a smaller population than china ,a latest un report said on nowdays.
 356 million youth constitute 28 percent of the country's population.

NATIONAL POLICY OF YOUTH
 The government has launched the national youth policy (NYP 2014) to the needs of youth in india.it
is a comprehensive policy document that states the vision of the government pf country and also
how this vision is sought to be realised by the government.
 NYP-2014 to needs of the youth in the age group of 5-29 years, which constitutes 27.5 percent of
population.
 The target group identified are:
 Student youth
 Migremt youth
 Rural youth
 Tribal youth
 Youthat risk
 Youth in violent confliets
 One of school dropouts
 Group with social/moral stigma
 Youth in institutional care
 NYP 2014 Seeks to achieve a productive workforce through education, skill
development for better employability and entrepreneurship training.
 A healthy generation with sports as a way of life a sense of community service
and strong social values.
 High levels of participation in governance and social inclusiveness by creating
equitable opportunities for all.
 National valves social harmony national unity and empowering youth through
employable skiils education health sports and recreation gender justice
participation in community service environment and local governance.
YOUTH INTERVENTION
 Youth intervention is a struggline with delinquency mental health social
academic relational or other issues are at risk for lifelong problematic
behaviour.
 Youth intervention helps young people become productive adults and
contributing members of society versus consumers of public services.
 Examples of youth intervention programs and pre court diversion programme:
 Truancy intervention shoplifting prevention /intervention ,curfew violation
sexual perpetrator counselling vandalism.
 Intervention fire awareness, drugs/alcohol prevention/intervention and
tobacco use intervention.
SCOPE OF SOCIAL WORK
 The scope of practice series articulates and promotes the role of professional
social workers within fields of practice and information about employers and
clients can expect.
 Each document has been developers in consultion with social work leaders and
participiniors.
 SCOPE OF SOCIAL WORK PRACTICE-SKILLS:
1.Social work and psychosocial assessment

3.Social work in child protection
4.Social work in health
5.Social work in disability
6.Social work leadership and management
7.Social work in mental health
 Providing the conditions for positive youth development is a responsibility shared
by families schools and communities.

5. Have a caring school climate
6. Have cleare rules and consequences
7. Expect youth to do well
YOUTH GLOBAL NETWORK
 Youth global network is a newly established organization under the extended
ministry of breakthrough.
 Making a missional youth community gather equip and mobilize youth and
youth workers to become a missional community with global perspective to
delivers acts of justice and mercy with local impact.
 GO GLOBAL AND IMPACT LOCAL:
 Endowment for youth global development

PROVIDE VOCATIONAL TRAINING
 Professional training an photographic art and digital media production
 Barista training café business operational training
 Operate a community café that serves premium coffee and local organic foods
 Kam tin cultural heritage conservation and education
 Documentary archival and exhibition and promote community building
 Collect community cultural heritage and build repositories
 Organize cultural festivals and community events
 Nurture a civil society:
 Establish cultural resource centre and library
 Organize seminars and workshops on global compassionate justice issues
BROADEN GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES
 Build an integrated accepting community composed of local youths refugees
and asylum seekers
 Organize global cultural exchanges and missional trips
 1-on-1 mentorship to provide guidance and deepen learning expenses
CONCLUSION
 Youth is considered to be the best human
 They are going to determine future of the world. they have to be handled
carefully of they have to be helped and understand so that they can make use
of there talents energy for the good of the society .
 They can be provided with adequate opportunity and awareness to achieve
the above interaction strategies.
 If the youth are to be helped understood are should understood the impact of
the present environment on the youth.

DEFINITION OF YOUTH Youth is best understood as a period of transition from the dependence of childhood to adulthoods independence. that why as a category youth is more fluid than other fixed age-groups. The united nation for statistical purposes defines youth as those persons between the ages of 15 and 24 years,without prejudice to other definition by member states. The secretary general first referred to the current definition of youth in 1981 in his report to the general assembly on international youth para.
  • 3. Statistics on Youth  At the beginning of 2012,the world population surpassed 7 billion with people under the age of 30 accounting for more than half of this number 50.5%.  According to the survey,89.7% of people under 30 lived in emerging and developing economies particularly in the middle east and Africa.  There are at least 100 million street children globally an estimated 18 million of these live in India which has the largest numbers of street children of any country in the world.  In 2012,india and china had the youngest population. According to the united nations (UN) India, total population in forecast to overtake china by 2025.  356 million 10-24 years-old india has the worlds largest youth population despite having a smaller population than china ,a latest un report said on nowdays.  356 million youth constitute 28 percent of the country's population.

NATIONAL POLICY OF YOUTH  The government has launched the national youth policy (NYP 2014) to the needs of youth in india.it is a comprehensive policy document that states the vision of the government pf country and also how this vision is sought to be realised by the government.  NYP-2014 to needs of the youth in the age group of 5-29 years, which constitutes 27.5 percent of population.  The target group identified are:  Student youth  Migremt youth  Rural youth  Tribal youth  Youthat risk  Youth in violent confliets  One of school dropouts  Group with social/moral stigma  Youth in institutional care
  • 6.  NYP 2014 Seeks to achieve a productive workforce through education, skill development for better employability and entrepreneurship training.  A healthy generation with sports as a way of life a sense of community service and strong social values.  High levels of participation in governance and social inclusiveness by creating equitable opportunities for all.  National valves social harmony national unity and empowering youth through employable skiils education health sports and recreation gender justice participation in community service environment and local governance.

YOUTH INTERVENTION  Youth intervention is a struggline with delinquency mental health social academic relational or other issues are at risk for lifelong problematic behaviour.  Youth intervention helps young people become productive adults and contributing members of society versus consumers of public services.  Examples of youth intervention programs and pre court diversion programme:  Truancy intervention shoplifting prevention /intervention ,curfew violation sexual perpetrator counselling vandalism.  Intervention fire awareness, drugs/alcohol prevention/intervention and tobacco use intervention.

  • 13. CONCLUSION  Youth is considered to be the best human  They are going to determine future of the world. they have to be handled carefully of they have to be helped and understand so that they can make use of there talents energy for the good of the society .  They can be provided with adequate opportunity and awareness to achieve the above interaction strategies.  If the youth are to be helped understood are should understood the impact of the present environment on the youth.
