This document shows the importance of an interoperable system, the importance of the right use of data, the importance of data privacy, trust in data usage, and how a system can help get the best out of data and use this data to improve the lives of others.

DATA FOR BETTER LIVES: Use of data for development purposes.
1. I work in a non profit organisation and I am the Small Group coordinator. Small Groups is a system that gathers people of like minds into groups
of tens, and through relationships and structured activties they becomes better versions of themselves. This requires a lot of data, and through
good management of this data, a system can be created that will iinfluence bonding and create relationships, hence making the lives of the
members better.
This cannot be fully achieved without proper management or governance, and being a part of the Data for better lives course as shed light on
how to be more effective in my role, and how to coordinate the system to make sure the lives of the members become better.
Fig 1 shows the structure by which the members are grouped together and after this grouping is done, a series of activties are structured to be
implemented within the groups.

2. A geographical region which is called a District is broken down into Communities and within this Communities exist Small Groups. People that
reside in the same communities are grouped together to foster relationships and various activities are structured to boost this in the groups.
Each group is unique in its own way and so the set of activties or mode of operation is unique.
In other to group people appropriately, various things are considered, things like gender, age, marital status, likes, hobbies, interests. This
granular level of data requires a high data privacy policy to be implemented within our system as we work with private data.
In other for the small groups to run smoothly, the SGA (as seen in fig 2 below) is a system that governs the Small Groups.

3. Leadership care focuses on the care for the leaders, this involves celebration, and support for the Small Group leaders. This involves taking their
private data and using it to put a smile on their faces. Assimilation is the process of adding people to small groups, and this involves using their
Home address data mainly to create groups, and then add people that stay in the same region together. Leadership development involves
training new leaders for new groups and also training existing leaders in other to ensure they stay equipped to lead the people right. The
operation of this 3 departments are intertwined and this means that the same data will be flowing through different hands, and this shows the
importance of a good data privacy policy, ensuring the safety of the data of the member, ensuring the right use of this data to achieve the goals
of the groups, and also ensuring trust between the departments. This system has to be highly interoperable, where there is proper synergy
between all departments and easy access to the data at any time.
It very important to know that members of this group voluntarily show interest to join, meaning the question of what is in it for me always
comes up and by we offering value, trust is built.
Data for better lives has shown me the importance of Data Privacy, Trust, Interoperabilty of systems, Use of Data, Barriers that comes with
development through data, funding governance through data. It is very important to set up a structure that enables the proper and easy use of
data to get the best out of data. Data is inexhaustable, the more you dwell on data, the more you get from it. Having a system that enables you
to dwell on your data consistency will help you govern the people better, and this is what Data for better lives is all about.
Thank you.
