Project Description/s:
The BCBSM ICD10 project is basically a field expansion project. As US health government
has decide to change the current ICD9 5 bytes Procedure and Diagnosis codes to 7 bytes
ICD10 codes. These changes are introduced to follow the standard procedures to cure a
disease and avoid the malpractices related with the treatments. Due to this fields expansion
many elements in the system are got impacted such as the Programs containing this fields,
related copybook and file layouts. Along with that we also changed the JOB and PROC
processing the files. Thus we have a good hand on, in many fields of Mainframe.
Recently a new bank has TSB, been launched by Lloyds banking Groups, which is a
subsidiary of Lloyds banking groups, and hold many existing customers of LBG. As part
launching new bank, without effecting the functionality and service of existing customers
there were changes in back end ( Database and Mainframe ), Which included development
of different new COBOL programs, Jobs using Mainframe IBM Utilities, etc. We have been
exposed to complete E2E testing of these jobs and programs.

Client Description
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM), a non-profit organization, provides and
administers health benefits to more than 4.7 million members residing in Michigan in
addition to Michigan head-headquartered groups, who reside outside the state. The
company offers a broad variety of plans including: Traditional Blue Cross Blue Shield; Blue
Preferred, Community Blue and Healthy Blue Incentives PPOs; Blue Care Network HMO;
BCN Healthy Blue Living; Flexible Blue plans compatible with health savings accounts;
Medicare Advantage; Part D Prescription Drug plans, and MyBlue products in the under-age-
65 individual market.
Lloyds banking group is the biggest bank in UK, based on the no. of customers it
holds. This group have 3 major Banks of UK, like Lloyds Bank, Halifax Bank and Bank of
Scotland, Which altogether constitute around 1/3rd
of Bank customers in UK, Recently a new
bank has been launched by LBG groups as per government norms for holding the maximum
no. of customer to a particular bank, which is named as Trustee Savings Bank (TSB).
Roles and Responsibilities in the Project
• Requirement Analysis.
• Design, Development and Exposure to complete Software Development Life cycle.
• E2E testing of code, Team management, Delivery Planning and estimating the cost.
Technologies used in this project and the experience in using them
• BCBSM ICD10 Conversions project is basically a Mainframe project under Healthcare
vertical. The technologies used in this project mostly related to Mainframe COBOL,
JCL, VSAM, DB2, IMS DB, File-aid and Endevor.
• I have worked extensively on technologies COBOL, JCL and DB2.
• I have also developed tools in REXX to reduce manual activities like taking back up of
datasets.
