Banking on Governor
Well, you can throw a new name into
the possible hat for Governor in 2024,
Congressman Jim Banks of Ft.
Wayne. Yup, TCS is hearing that Banks
is giving some thought about leaving
D.C. and coming back and running in
2024. TCS hears it's a tough decision
because his family would like to come
back home to Indiana, but on the other
hand, Banks is on track to possibly
become Speaker, And if Republicans
take the House back in November of
this year, he would be in pretty good
shape.
Also playing a role in the Governor's
race would be former President
Donald Trump, who really likes
Banks and wouldn't mind playing a
role in the Governor's race as well. If
for no other reason than to stick it to
his former running mate Mike Pence
who Trump (wrongly in our humble
opinion) blames for Joe Biden
becoming President because Pence
did not stop the certification of the
election.
Speaking of Trump, we also hear that
Trump really likes 5th District
Congresswoman Victoria Spartz, so if
she decided to run for statewide office
in 2024, say the U.S. Senate, Trump
would likely smile on that as well.

Statehouse Happenings
There's going to be quite a bit of
money thrown around in the
Statehouse races for the next couple of
cycles. We know Governor Eric
Holcomb is likely to spend a million
dollars on statehouse races, but he's
not the only one who may be spending
quite a bit of dough.
TCS is hearing the 9th District
Congressman Trey Hollingsworth
either has or is putting together a
Super PAC of at least half a million
dollars to play in the statehouse race
universe. That would also help him if
he decides to run for Governor in
2024.
And here's the kicker, TCS is hearing
that former State Senator Carlin Yoder
is putting together a Super PAC, and
he has some pretty big donors in
northern and southern Indiana on his
side. They wouldn't necessarily be
ready for the May primary, but they
plan to play a role in the 2022 elections
with some voter education efforts and
use that to gear up to be major players
in 2024.

A Few Other Items of Note
TCS hears life may also get interesting
in Indiana's Second Congressional
District. If Mike Braun doesn't run for
re-election to the U.S. Senate in 2024,
TCS hears Congresswoman Jackie
Walorski just might. If she runs, look
for Marlin Stutzman to run for her
seat as he now lives in the 2nd.
If Walorski doesn't run, we hear
Stutzman may decide to run for
Governor instead; of course, the trick
is finding the money to run.
Keep an eye on the Libertarian Party
of Indiana. They have been doing a
lot of recruiting lately and should have
more candidates running than ever
before. TCS is told a lot of those
candidates will be running in districts
where Donald Rainwater came in
second in the Governor’s race in 2020.
