3. INTRODUCTION
• ACCEPTANCE SAMPLING IS A QUALITY
CONTROL TECHNIQUE
• THIS IS ONE OF THE IMPORTANT TECHNIQUES
OF STATISTICAL QUALITY CONTROL
• THIS METHOD IS USED TO INSPECT QUALITY
JUST AFTER THE PRODUCTS ARE
MANUFACTURED OR ARE IN FINAL STAGE
4. DEFINITION
• ACCEPTANCE SAMPLING IS DEFINED AS
SAMPLING INSPECTION IN WHICH DECISIONS
ARE MADE TO ACCEPT OR REJECT PRODUCT OR
SERVICES.
• IT IS CONCERNED WITH INSPECTION AND
DECISION MAKING REGARDING PRODUCTS.
5. ROLE OF ACCEPTANCE SAMPLING
• SOMETIMES QUALITY OF A PRODUCT IS TESTED
BY DESTROYING AN ITEM, AS IN DETERMINING
THE STRENGTH OF GLASS CONTAINERS.
• IT ALSO GIVES GOOD RESULTS AND IT IS MUCH
BETTER IN CONTROLING QUALITY
• IT IS ALSO LESS EXPENSIVE THAN INSPECTION
6. ADVANTAGES
• THERE IS LESS INSPECTION THAT’S WHY ITS
LESS EXPENSIVE
• IT IS APPLICABLE TO DESTRUCTIVE TESTING
• IT GREATLY REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF
INSPECTION ERROR
• THERE IS LESS DAMAGE OF THE PRODUCT
• IT GIVES MOTIVATION TO THE VENDOR FOR
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT RATHER THEN
REJCTION
8. SINGLE SAMPLING PLAN
• FOR A SINGLE SAMPLING PLAN , A SAMPLE OF ITEMS IS
SELECTED AT RANDOM FROM A LOT IS DETERMINED
FROM THE RESULTING INFORMATION
• IT CAN BE DESCRIBED IN 3 TERMS
1) N, THE LOT SIZE
2) n, THE SAMPLE SIZE
3) c, THE ACCEPTANCE NUMBER
c, IS THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE DEFECTS IN SAMPLE….
IF SAMPLE CONTAINS c OR FEWER DEFECTIVES, LOT
WILL BE ACCEPTED & IF IT CONTAINS MORE THEN c LOT
WILL BE REJECTED.
9. DOUBLE SAMPLING PLAN
A DOUBLE SAMPLING PLAN ALLOWS THE
OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE A SECOND SAMPLE
• THESE ARE CHARACTERIZED BY TWO SAMPLE
SIZE ALONG WITH TWO SETS OF ACCEPTANCE
REJECTION NUMBERS.
• THE TWO SAMPLE SIZE MAY OR MAY NOT BE
EQUAL.
• IT CAN BE DESCRIBED IN TERMS OF c1,c2,n1.n2
10. MULTIPLE SAMPLING PLAN
• MULTIPLE SAMPLING PLAN IS SIMILAR TO THE
DOUBLE SAMPLING PLAN IN THIS 3 OR MORE
SAMPLE MIGHT BE TAKEN BEFORE A DECISION
IS REACHED REGARDING THE ACCEPTANCE OF
A LOT
11. DISADVANTAGES
• THERE ARE RISK OF ACCEPTING ‘BAD’ LOTS
AND REJECTING ‘GOOD’ LOTS
• LESS INFORMATION IS USUALLY GENERATED
ABOUT THE PRODUCT OR ABOUT THE PROCESS
THAT MANUFACTURED THE PRODUCT
• IT REQUIRES PLANNING AND DOCUMENTATION
WHERE INSPECTION DOES NOT
12. CONCLUSION
• THIS METHOD IS BASED ON INSPECTING A
SAMPLE INSTEAD OF THE WHOLE LOT.
• THIS INVOLVES LESSER COST OF INSPECTION
AND IT REDUCE PRODUCTION COST TOO.
• IMPROVES THE GOODWILL OF PRODUCT
AMONG CUSTOMERS,IF THE CONSUMER
REGULARLY GET GOOD QUALITIES PRODUCT
FROM A PARTICULAR BUSINESS HOUSE THEN
THE REPUTATION OF THAT CONCERN IS
ENHANCED.
