NECOS Project: Lightweight Slicing of CloudFederated Infrastructures
1. Novel Enablers for Cloud Slicing

2. Contextualization:
●The NECOS Project addresses:
○ Limitations of current cloud computing
infrastructures to respond to demand new
services
●Use Cases:
○ Telecom service provider, oriented towards
the adoption of cloud computing in large
networks
○ Use of edge clouds to support devices with
low computing and storage capacity
Novel Enablers for Cloud Slicing
3. Main characteristics:
●Introduces a new service model:
Slice-as-a-Service.
●Allows you to configure slices over physical
resources of both network and cloud
infrastructure.
●Allows you to manage by software every
aspect of the environment.
●It employs lightweight and uniform
management and virtualization systems, with small
components which can be deployed on a large
number of small servers, and clouds at both the
core and edges of the network.

4. The Goal:
●NECOS aims to automate
the cloud and network
configuration process by
providing uniform
management with a high
level of autonomy for currently
separated computing,
connectivity and storage
resources, based on the
Lightweight Slice Defined
Cloud (LSDC) concept.
