What is the purpose of the
Horror genre?
The purpose of Horror is that it tries to create a sense of fear or
panic into the minds of the audience. This is done by the creation
of an evil force, person or an event which is happening. This is also
helped by certain creatures that are portrayed in the film itself.
Subgenres
The subgenres of Horror are Gore and
disturbance, Psychological, Killer, Monster,
Zombies and Paranormal.

Analysis of Saw
SAW has a lot of montage editing to connote to the audience that the
characters are panicking due to what is happening on screen.
The various sound affects used creates suspense and tension for the
audience as it creates narrative enigma’s such as “What is happening
next?”
The different types of mise en scene used creates suspense as they
use things such as knifes, chainsaws and etc. This also creates a
narrative enigma for the viewers such as “What are they going to do
with them?” and “Why are they attacking them with those objects?”
