The Florida Scenic Highways Program aims to preserve and enhance the intrinsic resources along scenic corridors in Florida through conservation and sustainable land use. The program requires that candidate highways have significant natural, cultural, or historical features visible along their routes. Highways that are designated as Florida Scenic Highways receive benefits like increased tourism, economic development opportunities, and eligibility for grant funding to support preservation and promotion efforts led by local management groups. There are currently 23 designated State Scenic Highways and 5 National Scenic Byways in Florida.
2. A grassroots effort to heighten awareness of
Florida’s intrinsic resources that collectively
enhance the travelers experience.
Program participation provides
benefits to the community, such
as resource preservation, enhancement
and protection.
