This course focuses on the application of ideas and methods of the social sciences to understand,
investigate and examine the challenges of contemporary community life. It focuses on community-
action initiatives such as community engagement, solidarity and citizenship as guided by the core
values of human rights, social justice, empowerment and advocacy, gender equality and participatory
development. It aims at enhancing the students' sense of shared identity and willingness to contribute
to the pursuit of the common good of the community. It enables students to integrate applied social
sciences into community-action initiatives.

agencies and organizations
helping local communities
and municipalities during
the flood. Each group will
present their own
generalization on the
importance of partnership
with the local communities
and organizations.
Application: The class will
use a “forum-based
session” wherein a
representative from each
group will present and
explain an action plan if
the said calamity will arise.

semester, the learners are to
be group according to the
barangay they are a resident
of. They are then to identify
one specific community
problem and formulate an
action plan from it. The action
plan should consist the
following parts;
A. Identified Community
Problem
B. Description
C. Proposed Resolution
D. Time frame
E. Analysis of the action plan
(at least one description on
each field)
Two weeks prior to the
creation of the action plan,
each group are then to present
it to the class. Upon approval,
each group are then to
propose the action plan to
their baranggay and conduct
their proposed action plan.
They should documentation
upon the engagement and
shall be presented to the class
after.
The said assessment will be
posted in Edmodo together
with the community action
plan template and sample
