Coercion through Leniency: British Manipulation of the
Courts- Martial System in the Post-Mutiny Indian Army,
1859-1913
On page 951 of the subject article he stated that Muslims
comprised 45 % of Indian Army which is factually
incorrect. The references that he cited i.e Roberts letters
and some house proceedings also do not prove so.
Actually it is a biggest distortion of history to state that
Muslims comprised 45 % of Indian Army that rebelled in
1857 as no archival evidence exists at all to prove
this nonsense assertion.
When I wrote a letter to editor to the Journal of Military
History of VMI,USA the editors ommitted this most
serious criticism and instead published my letter in the
7. journal retaining my minor criticism of the subject of
flogging in Indian Army.
Bottom line is that Journal of Military History did not have
qualified referees to check nonsense facts of Prof
Kaukshik Roy and since they had already published
absolute nonsense that Kaukshik wrote they did not have
the intellectual honesty to accept it.
In a similar case when I pointed out various unbalanced
and sweeping assertions in Prof Tan Tai of Singapores
article in the same journal in 2000 , the journal did not
publish my criticism citing lack of space as the flimsy and
typically intellectually dishonest excuse.
The worst part of the journals intellectual dishonesty
came when they refused to publish a small review of my
book done by an American Mr Don after initially having
agreed to publish it in 2005-6 or so.
