6. Candidates who apply for the Higher Secondary Examination for the first time will be treated as “Direct Private
Candidates” HP and the candidates who once appeared and failed in the Higher Secondary Examination will
be treated as “Private Candidates” H .

7. Candidates must mark a tick in the column provided for “Direct Private candidate” / “Private Candidate” in
the first page of the application.
8. The photos should be attested by the Headmaster of the institution where the candidate last studied.
9. Those failed in ‘practical’ part of the subject comprising both Theory and Practical must appear for both Theory and
Practical compulsorily. Those applying for practical under vocational stream must mention the subject name followed
by Practical I or Practical II, as the case may be.
10. Change of language or subjects at the time of writing the examination will not be permitted.
11. Place of examination: Candidate must select any one of the places of examination from the list of places given in the
annexure and mention the same in bold letters on the first page of the application form.
2. 12. Examination Fee : (For Regular Private Candidates)
I. EXAMINATION FEE : Rs.50/- per subject
In addition to the exam fee, each candidate should pay Rs.35/- for which break-up is given below.
(a) Registered Fee Rs.10/-
(b) Mark Certificate Fee Rs.20/-
(c) Service Charges Rs. 5/-
Fee once remitted will neither be refunded nor be adjusted for the subsequent examination.
Examination Fee : (For Direct Private Candidates)
I. EXAMINATION FEE : Rs.150/-
In addition to the exam fee, each candidate should pay Rs.37/- for which break-up is given below.
(a) Registered Fee Rs.10/-
(b) Mark Certificate Fee Rs.20/-
(c) Service Charges Rs. 5/-
(d) Aural/Oral skill test fee Rs. 2/-
Rs.187/- in total.
13. The candidate should enclose Xerox copy of Mark Certificates of previous appearances without which the admission
cannot be considered. (Private Candidates)
14. In submitting an application for admission to the examination the candidates will be deemed to have given an
undertaking that he will abide by all the rules now in force or those to be brought into effect hereafter in respect of the
examination.
15. On receipt of admission certificate, the candidate must verify whether his / her name, date of birth and subject with
medium are printed correctly. Mistake if any must be brought to the notice of the Joint Director of Govt.
Examinations and to the Chief Superintendent of the examination centre also.

16. Candidates should take their places in the examination hall fifteen minutes before the commencement of the
examination.
17. Candidates arriving after the expiration of fifteen minutes from the commencement of the examination will not be
admitted.
(a) Candidate suffering from contagious disease will not be admitted to the examination room.
(b) Candidates should note down the Register Number on the of the top of the question paper in the space provided
immediately after the receipt from the Assistant Superintendent of the Examination Hall.
(c) Candidate will not be permitted to leave the Examination Hall before the expiry of the time allotted for the
examination.
(d) Candidates are not permitted to bring Cell Phones inside the Examination Hall.
(e) Candidate are permitted to take the question paper with them after the conclusion of the examination.
18. Candidates are prohibited from noting down answers to any question either on the question paper or on a separate
paper. They are also prohibited from writing upon their Admission Certificate.
19. Any candidate who communicates with the Examiners and who does not behave properly towards the Chief and
Assistant Superintendent of the Examination or is suspected or having and recourse to malpractice of any kind in
connection with the examination, or whose answer papers contain objectionable matter is liable to have his / her
Examination cancelled for such terms of years as the Board of Higher Secondary Examination may think fit or the
Board is not satisfied for any reason whatsoever as to the trustworthiness, his/her result may be cancelled or he/she
may be required to undergo re-examination at some future date to be fixed by the Board in any one or more of the
subjects of the examination for which he/she appeared, his/her success of failure being determined on the result of
such re-examination.
3. 20. It is the personal responsibility of the candidates to tie the additional answer sheets and main answer book properly
and handover to the Assistant Superintendent. They should not under any circumstances leave the script on the table
or take away the answer scripts. If any such cases reported, the candidature of the candidates for the examination will
be cancelled and the candidate is likely to be debarred from appearing for the Higher Secondary or any other
Examination for such terms of years specified by the Director of Government Examinations, Chennai
21. Mark Certificate will be issued to all Private Candidates through the examination centres, after the publication of
results.

Specific Instructions to Direct Private Candidates
24. The Direct Private Candidates (HP) are eligible to apply for the examination only if they have completed two years
after passing SSLC examination and also should have completed 16½ years of age as on first September 2012 the day
specified in the notification.
25. Candidates once applied as Direct Private Candidate but absented in all subjects will again be treated as Direct
Private Candidates only.
26. The Direct Private candidates will be permitted to appear for only in any one of the following groups of subjects
under Part-III

27. The candidate will be tested in aural / oral skills for 20 marks at the respective examination centre by the Subject
teacher in language Paper II under Part I Mother Tongue or Regional Language ; Part II (English) and Advanced
Language (Tamil). The Aural/Oral test conducted at the examination centre will be final and marks obtained in the
first test will be taken into account for subsequent appearance if any. The candidate will not be permitted to redo the
test under any circumstances. They should contact the Chief Superintendent of the examination centre for the exact
date and time for the aural/oral test.
28. Candidates should enclose all original Mark Certificates of previous appearances.
