Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning
fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be
deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or
damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision
component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and
protected at all times.
Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the
components, if necessary.

To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure
and wear protective equipment.
10. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press in order to install retaining ring (42) .
11. Install retaining ring (42), spring (43), washer (44), and pins (45) into barrel (38) .

1. Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (A) to propel pump (12). install the propel pump
and bolts (13). The weight of the propel pump is approximately 46 kg (102 lb).
2. Install three hose assemblies (11) on propel pump (12) .
3. Reposition linkage (10) and install bolt (9) .

4. Connect harness assembly (7) .
5. Connect hose assembly (8) .
6. Connect hose assembly (6) and hose assembly (5) .
7. Reposition cable assembly (4) and install pin (3) and cotter pin (2). Tighten jam nut (1) .
End By: Install the vibratory pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump
(Vibratory) - Intsall".

A. Remove the drum propel pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Drum
Propel) - Remove".

1. Disconnect hose assembly (1) and hose assembly (2) .
2. Disconnect three hose assemblies (3) .
3. Disconnect two harness assemblies (4) .

4. Attach a suitable lifting device to axle propel pump (5). Remove bolts (6) and remove axle
propel pump (5) from the machine. The weight of the axle propel pump is approximately 46
kg (102 lb).
5. Loosen bolt (8) and remove hub (7) from axle propel pump (5) .

Start By:
A. Remove the piston pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Axle Propel
and Drum Propel) - Remove".
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the disassembly procedure, the exterior
of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the
internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt. Perform
disassembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all
times.
Note: Regular maintenance and frequent inspections are routine precautions. Practice preventive
maintenance before damage occurs. Preventive maintenance can help to avoid a failure. If a failure
occurs, an accurate diagnosis of the cause can prevent a recurrence. Information is available to
analyze the failures of the piston pump and the motor. Refer to Special Publication, SEBD0641,
"Analyzing Axial Piston Pump and Motor Failures".
Note: After disassembly has been completed, check the condition of all the components. Refer to
Guideline For Reusable Parts, SEBF8032, "Piston Pumps and Motors". During reconditioning,

correct any conditions that might have caused the original failure. Information is available to
analyze failures on the piston pumps and the motor. Refer to Special Publication, SEBD0641,
"Analyzing Axial Piston Pump and Motor Failures".

15. Remove O-ring seal (21) from plug (20) .
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a
released spring force.
Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.
Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to
release the spring force.
16. Remove valve (22) .
