Maintenance – Battery Test / Conditioning
• Batteries in storage typically require conditioning every 6 months
• Voltage drop for stored batteries is normally around 3% per month
• To prevent long term damage to stored batteries, Shields offer a full battery test and
conditioning service, covering:
• Pre-test
• Re-charge
• Post-test
• Old batteries recovered from site, can also be tested and recharged prior to
redeployment.
• Testing / replacement service is available onsite or in-house at Shields facilities.

SQUAN SOLUTIONS / SPRINT IDEN NETWORK DECOMMISSIONING
Shields was contracted by Squan Solutions of New Jersey to handle the Logistics and responsible recycling of the Sprint IDEN Network Gear that was taken off line in June 2013. The scope of work for Shields included the setup of logistics and transportation of 1,000 Tower sites throughout the Northeast. Throughout this project Shields Utilized its transportation partners to move via OTR trucks and Rail Freight Systems to one of Shields facilities. Within the 6 to 8 month period Shields picked up, transported and processed over 1,500,000 lbs. of obsolete equipment and material through its facilities. This equipment will be sorted and recorded by state and location for accurate reporting to Squan. All equipment and materials will be broken down and sorted into its

Shields was awarded the project by the State of Louisiana to remove de-install and transport all of the retired Motorola 800MHz Radio Repeaters and associated equipment from 43 locations across the state. In the 15 working days our team drove over 4,000 miles worked in 43 different parishes (counties) with locations ranging from city centers, livestock pastures, to high security areas like state correctional facilities, state police locations and 1 U.S. DOE Federal facility. In this time they removed 217- Motorola 800MHz Radio Repeaters and Amplifiers w/cabinets, 43 Motorola Channel Banks and 8 SCADA Systems. All equipment was delivered to the Louisiana Surplus Property Facility un-damaged.
