3. What is Open Data Kit
Many organizations are using mobile devices to collect data in the field. Open
Data Kit is a suite of tools that allows data collection using Android mobile
devices and data submission to an online server, even without an Internet
connection.

ODK Build– drag and drop interface for survey design. Build is an HTML5 web
application and works best for designing simple forms.
XLS Forms – Excel interface for survey programming.
ODK Collect – You can install ODK Collect from the Google Play Store and enter data
on your Android mobile device.
ODK Aggregator – provide blank forms to ODK Collect, accept finalized forms
submissions from ODK Collect and export data (e.g. as CSV files)
ODK Briefcase – is a standalone application that is used instead of ODK Aggregate to
gather and manage data in cases of no internet connectivity.
