The Key to Choosing, Storing and Serving Wine
1. THE KEY TO CHOOSING,
STORING, AND SERVING WINE
Here at Campbell Station Wine and Spirits,
your friendly liquor store inFarragut, we are
committed to helping you get the best wine
experience by choosing and storing, and
serving them the right way. As they always
say, you can never go wrong with great wine -
- but how do you really keep your wine at its
best? Is there a proper way of storing and
serving your bottle of wine?
2. How do you like your wine? Do you like
it fresh, or do you like it aged? Screw
capped wines are intended to preserve
your favorite wine's freshness. Corked
wines, on the other hand, use natural
cork to allow the wine to slowly evolve
through the years. As an old adage
goes, old wines are tasty. Natural corks
make room for the wine to "breathe",
thus, allowing it to age.
3. Perhaps you'd find yourself asking at
times, "should I buy the expensive
bottle or should I just go for a cheaper
one?" There is a saying that goes, "you
get what you pay for". The same rule
applies when it comes to choosing
wines. Although it is not safe to assume
that all expensive wines are the best,
there is still truth that the more
expensive the wine, the more money
you are paying for the liquor in the
bottle. So it better be good!
4. How should you store your wine for the
long-term? The key to proper storage is
on how you can maintain optimal
storage conditions. A cool, humid dark
and odorless storage is needed to keep
your wine at its best state. To consume
or not to consume right away? Well,
this is a common question that most
wine lovers often ask themselves after
buying their favorite Cabernet or
Sauvignon Blanc.
5. This generally depends on how old your
wine is. You can get the most of older
wines by serving it right away upon
opening. If this is not the case, key, on
the other hand, to getting the best
flavor from your wine is to decant it
more or less than an hour before
serving. Naturally, the flavor becomes
more prominent if you allow a little air
to get into it. When it comes to the
ideal temperature of serving wine, the
basic rule requires that reds shouldn't
be served too warm, while whites
shouldn't be served too cold.
