SOFTENERBASKET GAME
The softenerbasket is a funny sport game where you have to be skillful. It has been practised in
the south of Spain for the last fifteen years, since some Physical Education teachers where
concerned about the necessity of a change in our enviromental and consumerism habits.
As you can see in the followings sections, is a game where you have to made the materials in
an interesting creative process.
HOW IS THE GAME?
The softenerbasket game is an sport where you have to pass a ball using a novel material, and
receive the ball using your free hand.
We may say that is a mixture of lacrosse, baseball and rugby, because you have to employ usual
skills from that sport.
The main aim of the game is to be able to catch the ball with the softenerbasket in the opponent’s
goal zone. This is the only ocasion when you are going to use the basket for receiving the ball. In
any other time you have to catch it with your hand and use the basket only for passes. This
way, as you can see, you have to use your both hands to play this game.

2. MATERIAL MAKING PROCESS
To make a softenerbasket we need:
‐ One bottle of empty softener
‐ Scissors
‐ Insulating tape
‐ Colours or papers to decorate the bottle.
The making process has three different stages which we are going to
explain now.

4. RULES
1. The ball is thrown using the softenerbasket and it’s received
using your free hand.
2. If you commit a foul, the game will restart on the line behind
the attackers’ position.
3. In the goal zone you have to catch the ball using the basket.
4. When a pass is done, the ball can only bounce once.
5. The defending team mustn’t get into their goal zone.
6. An attacker can get into the goal zone once the pass has been
done, not before.
7. Any contact is considered as a fault.
8. We can move around all the parts of the field, but you can’t
run forward to the goal zone if you have the ball.
9. We have got ten seconds for passing the ball.

5. THE FIELD
