Marketing And Press Releases - What Every Small Business Owner Must Know
1. Marketing And Press Releases - What Every Small Business
Owner Must Know
Altering a small business picture that's not doing is significant. As a public relations professional I've
composed and reviewed hundreds of press releases. Building wealth in our economy is no easy
accomplishment. There are many factors to weigh when considering the need to send out a press
release. As a publicist I have sent thousands of releases over the years and while there are no hard
and fast rules, the most important factor is that you've got to make sure it's newsworthy and useful
to the reader. Any thing else and it's just a waste of time for the members of the media.
Once had lunch with a retired Jack Morris in Santa Monica, the interview set up by a Public
Relations Company. Morris was stumping, I think, for something All-Star game related, so we talked
about that for a while over iced teas and tuna sandwiches. Morris had come up short in a handful of
Hall votes. We talked about that, too. He asked if I'd voted for him. I said I hadn't. He said he
compared favorably with Bert Blyleven. I said I hadn't voted for him, either. He asked if I'd voted for
Dennis Eckersley. I told him I had. He asked that I grant him a save - in theory - for every complete-
game win he'd had. I thought about that for a while and concluded Morris was still great, but fell
short, right where I had him before. We shook hands. He was very nice about it, which made me feel
worse.
I cannot validly agree with the notion that women are shallower than men in every regard. Now, if
you are talking about specifically in relation to an emphasis on a romantic partner's level of
education, career success, and wealth ... I would lean toward saying yes, I generally agree that
women place more emphasis on those attributes than the average man does.
In a statement that was released to the Associated Press, "In 2003, when I took one shot of steroids,
I immediately realized that this was not what I stood for or anything that I wanted to continue doing.
I never used steroids, human growth hormone or any other performance-enhancing drugs prior to or
since that single incident," Roberts stated.
This is my second book. In 2006, following the death of my husband, I volunteered to teach in South
Africa. While there, I wrote my first book, The Human Spirit - Apartheid's Unheralded Heroes. It
tells the true life stories of an amazing array of men and women who have devoted their lives during
the worst years of apartheid to help the children, the elderly, and the disabled of the townships.
These people cared when no one else did and their efforts continue to this day.
So what you can do is create a website that promotes you, write in a blog, and do a variety of other
things that can really benefit you in your job. You'll be able to get a lot of clients and those clients
will refer you to others. So make sure you do a good job. Make sure you make them happy and get
the public attention that they need. That way you are able to make a long career out of Public
Relations.
How much to charge? The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, one of the few if not the only sizable metro
paper to charge for its web site, makes readers pay $4.95 a month. Since that's about 16 cents a
day, we'd say it's far too low. We'd make it a nice round number, easy to remember ... $20 a month.
That hopefully would bring in a substantial Public Relations Firm amount of revenue.
2. Just imagine that you're a newspaper columnist trying to develop a following. You have to find your
voice. There are many things you can do to grow your readership: be passionate, opinionated,
thought-provoking and even controversial. Dallas Internet public relations firm strategies
encapsulate the fact that The Internet, in many ways, a democracy. Readers will vote with return
visits to your blog.
While expanding the line brings in addition sales in the short term, it runs against the notion of
branding. If you want to build a powerful product in the minds of consumers, engage public relations
in New Jersey to contract your product, not expand it. In the long term, expanding your brand will
diminish your power and weaken your image.
