  2. 2. My rough definition …. <ul><li>Disciplined inquiry to add to public knowledge </li></ul>

Disciplined <ul><li>Follows a specific methodology so that the public has a reasonable level of confidence that findings are correct </li></ul><ul><li>We know (within reason) that a conclusion applies to a specific group of people </li></ul><ul><li>We know that we cause a limited effect upon the human subjects we study </li></ul>
  4. 4. Inquiry to add to <ul><li>We do research to find out something that we don’t already know </li></ul><ul><li>Test and verify information that we think may be true </li></ul><ul><li>We seek answers to “soup questions” </li></ul>
