    • Bill Gates
      By Someone
    • Childhood
      • Born October 28th 1955
      • Born in Seattle, Washington to Bill Gates Sr. and Mary Maxwell
      • Grew up with 2 sisters- Libby (younger) and Kristi (older)
      • Bill Gates not only became rich in his life, but his family was already an upper middle class family.
      • Bill Gates Sr. was a Lawyer, while Mary Maxwell was a chairwomen of United Way, and a schoolteacher
    • School
Bill Gates first attended View Ridge Elementary School.
He was very smart, and this school was boring to him so he read the whole Encyclopedia
In grade Seven his parents were worried about him not getting challenged, so they sent him to Lakeside School ; a private boys’ only school
Here he would also meet future business partners, Paul Allen and Steve Ballmer
    • Lakeside School
Lakeside school was also one of the first schools to have a ASR- 33 teletype machine. They were connected via phone line
You would type a question into the teletype machine and the computer would print back an answer
This machine acted like a computer, but the real computer was down the street
    • Computers
      • Seeing the teletype machine was like love at first sight for bill. He took a interest in computers and started by programming and designing a Tic- Tac- Toe game. It would allow users to compete with the computer.
      • By age 13 he was programming computers. One of the he programmed was a computer to be used by the City of Seattle.
      • He also designed an electric Calendar with his friend Kent Evans. Kent passed away so Paul Allen took over
    • Computers
The first ever computer to be sold to the public was the Altair 8800 built by MITS international
When first seeing the Altair 8800 with Paul Allen, at Harvard University, they contacted Ed Roberts; the president of MITS and informed him they had a version of BASIC (Beginners All- purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) written for this computer
    • Truth: They didn’t. But in the next three weeks they wrote one from scratch
    • Microsoft
After getting a deal with MITS they formed Micro-soft (within a year the hyphen was dropped) a name that originated from microcomputer and software. Their first office was located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In the following year Microsoft was relocated to Bellevue, Washington
    • Melinda French
On January 1st , 1994 Bill married Melinda French
They have three children- Jennifer Katharine (1996), Rory John (1999) Phoebe Adele (2002)
