  3. 3. Born in Seattle, Washington to Bill Gates Sr. and Mary Maxwell
  4. 4. Grew up with 2 sisters- Libby (younger) and Kristi (older)
  5. 5. Bill Gates not only became rich in his life, but his family was already an upper middle class family.

Bill Gates Sr. was a Lawyer, while Mary Maxwell was a chairwomen of United Way, and a schoolteacher</li></li></ul><li>School<br />Bill Gates first attended View Ridge Elementary School. <br />He was very smart, and this school was boring to him so he read the whole Encyclopedia<br />In grade Seven his parents were worried about him not getting challenged, so they sent him to Lakeside School ; a private boys’ only school<br />Here he would also meet future business partners, Paul Allen and Steve Ballmer<br />
  7. 7. Lakeside School<br />Lakeside school was also one of the first schools to have a ASR- 33 teletype machine. They were connected via phone line<br />You would type a question into the teletype machine and the computer would print back an answer<br />This machine acted like a computer, but the real computer was down the street <br />
  8. 8. Computers<br /><ul><li>Seeing the teletype machine was like love at first sight for bill. He took a interest in computers and started by programming and designing a Tic- Tac- Toe game. It would allow users to compete with the computer.
  9. 9. By age 13 he was programming computers. One of the he programmed was a computer to be used by the City of Seattle.
  10. 10. He also designed an electric Calendar with his friend Kent Evans. Kent passed away so Paul Allen took over</li></li></ul><li>Computers<br /> The first ever computer to be sold to the public was the Altair 8800 built by MITS international <br />When first seeing the Altair 8800 with Paul Allen, at Harvard University, they contacted Ed Roberts; the president of MITS and informed him they had a version of BASIC (Beginners All- purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) written for this computer <br />
  11. 11. Truth: They didn’t. But in the next three weeks they wrote one from scratch <br />
  12. 12. Microsoft<br />After getting a deal with MITS they formed Micro-soft (within a year the hyphen was dropped) a name that originated from microcomputer and software. Their first office was located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.<br />In the following year Microsoft was relocated to Bellevue, Washington<br />
