Where is Hawaii located?

●
Hawaii is located in the Central Pacific
Ocean. This state is made up of eight small
islands. These islands consist of Niihau,
    Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe,
Maui and Hawaii. Also, Hawaii is located
about 2,400 miles southwest of the actual
    continent of the United States.
History of Hawaii

 ●
Before Hawaii was officially discovered by a
European named Capitan James Cook in
1779, the first to set foot in Hawaii were the
Polynesian people. Most of Hawaii’s history
is not written down. Their culture has been
     much preserved through chants and
legends. Many of theses stories have been
lost over time, thus leaving missing links to
a lot of Hawaii’s history. James Cook
     named Hawaii the ‘Sandwich Islands’.
Hawaii officially became the 50 th state of
Cultures in Hawaii
What language do they speak in Hawaii?

●
The main languages of Hawaii are English,
    hawaiian (native), spanish, french, Italian
    and Portuguese.
●
Haoles speak English, locals speak pigeon,
a type of broken English mixed with
Hawaiian and Japanese words that have
been truncated and butchered to the point
that they have become their own word with
    their own meaning.
 Traditions

●
The Hula was first preformed by a god or
goddess for religious ceremonies and sacred
rituals. It is a Hawaiian dance that tells an
important story or teaches a valuable lesson.
Each hand motion and gesture expresses the
words of the song or chant that was being
recited. During the 19 th century, the Hula
     was almost vanished because the
missionaries found it to be “sexual”.
