Legal Jobs Increasing in 2013, says BCG Attorney Search
Legal jobs are increasing this year with BigLaw defying the downward trend in the legal jobs
market, reveals BCGAttorney Search.
Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) July 03, 2013 -- Hiring for legal professionals is seeing an upward trend in the U.S.
says BCGAttorney Search. The legal recruiter website reports 3022 active attorney jobs that require to be filled,
claiming that smaller firms have also started joining BigLaw in defying the downward trend in the legal jobs
market.
News of firms like Weil, Gotshal & Manges dumping 60 associates into the legal market as well as placing
about 30 partners ‘on a starvation diet’ had demotivated several legal job seekers. But many other BigLaw
firms showed a contrary trend starting June this year.
Gradually the legal jobs market is showing that there is much promise in store for lawyers, notes Harrison
Barnes, Chief Executive Officer of BCGAttorney Search. He explains that this year has seen BigLaw
Pennsylvanian firms like Fox Rothschild LLP and Ballard Spahr LLP create new legal jobs through their
expansion into Denver. Likewise, Pepper Hamilton will soon welcome five health care lawyers from Norton
Rose to its year-old Los Angeles office. With many small law firms starting to merge their resources and firms,
there is scope that new legal jobs will be created in the near future.
While James Leipold, Executive Director at national Association for Law Placement (NALP), says that the
employment picture remains decidedly mixed for the class of 2012, the beginning of a rebounding private
practice sector is being noticed, particularly at large law firms. An increase in the salary figures can also be
observed with this rebounding.
Overall the legal jobs market is picking up momentum. Denver, Houston, Dallas, Miami and Pittsburg are
especially showing a greater market for legal job seekers, as per a 20 June article on The Careerist. These
regions are foreseen to be the biggest winners for increasing the percentage of legal jobs in the country this
year. To carry out a search for legal employment opportunities in these states log on to:
