3. What is the difference
between I am fine and I
am good?
"I'm good" means that I am morally sound: for instance,
I do good deeds, I think good thoughts. This latter
meaning is being used more and more to mean "I am
well". In UK English, "I'm fine" is the standard reply to
"How are you?" "I'm good," means I am well behaved
In short, “I'm fine” means I'm really not fine. It
means that I need someone, anyone to help get
me out of my own mind. Sometimes it means I
need help.
4. Good
'Good' refers to quality
or character of a
person. For example,
'Sirisha is good' means
she is virtuous or has
good qualities. On the
other side, 'well' refers
to well being or good
health, which is why, 'I
am doing well' is more
meaningful in this
context
5. IS GOOD
BETTER THAN
FINE?
BEING POSITIVE OR DESIRABLE
IN NATURE; NOT BAD OR POOR:
A GOOD EXPERIENCE; GOOD NE
WS FROM THE HOSPITAL. AS
YOU SEE, GOOD CAN SIMPLY
MEAN "NOT BAD";
BUT FINE MEANS SUPERIOR,
EXCELLENT. ROBUSTA'S
ANSWER IS CORRECT WHEN
THEY ARE BEING USED
ATTRIBUTIVELY, TO
DESCRIBE SOMETHING IN
PARTICULAR.
6. What fine really stands for?
Fouled Up, Insecure, Neurotic and Emotional (Aerosmith; polite
form) FINE.
7. Are you doing good
or well?
The rule of thumb is that good is an adjective
and well is an adverb. Good modifies a noun;
something can be or seem good. Well modifies a verb;
an action can be done well. However, when you're
talking about health, well can be used as an adjective.
8. Can you say I am doing good?
If we reply: “I am good.” good is an
adjective, modifying I, and am is the linking
verb between the two; so it means either,
“I'm a nice person,” which we
would rarely say in public, or, “My life is
okay,” which is what we intend.
9. When did people in the US start saying "you're good" or
"you're fine" instead of "no problem" or "no worries?"
I would use “no problem” or “no worries” after helping somebody, or after
somebody thanks me. I prefer it over “you’re welcome.” To me, it seems
more genuine, and it shows you’re not bothered by helping people. Instead
of saying “you’re welcome” you can say “if you ever need anything else, let
me know, I’d love to help!” It’s more straight forward, and it shows your
intentions and help were genuine.
