Contraindications
➢Known or suspected pregnancy or
intend to become pregnant .
➢Active thrombophlebitis, or current or
past history of thromboembolic
disorders, or cerebral vascular disease.
➢Known or suspected malignancy of
breast.

Contraindications
➢Known hypersensitivity to
medroxyprogesterone acetate or any
other ingredients present in Depo-
Provera CI.
➢Unusual or irregular vaginal bleeding
that has not been diagnosed.
➢Blood clots in your legs.
➢Swelling and redness along a vein.
➢A stroke.

➢Severe, uncontrolled, high blood
pressure.
➢Blood in your urine that has not been
diagnosed
➢Any lumps in your breasts that have not

Side Effects
The most common side effects of
Depo-Provera CI with an incidence rate
of 5% or more are menstrual
irregularities
(bleeding or spotting) 57% at 12
months, 32% at 24 months, abdominal
pain/discomfort 11%, weight gain of
more than 10 lbs at 24 months 38%,
dizziness 6%, headache 17%,
nervousness 11%, decreased libido 6%.
