THE BEGINNING
 Titanic was built at a shipyard
in Belfast, Ireland in 1909.
 It took 3 years to complete.
 It was built by Harland &
Wolff, shipbuilders For White
Star Line.
 2000 steel plates held together
by 3 million rivets, formed the
hull.
SIZE
 Weight: 46,000 tons
 Length: 882 feet long (4 city blocks)
 Height: 175 feet ( 11 stories)
 9 decks with a capacity of 3500
passengers and crew
 Was the largest moving object in the
world, at that time
POWER
 20 Boilers & 162
Furnaces.
 Burned 650 tons of coal
per day.
 4 Smoke Stacks 22 feet
wide and 6 stories high.
 Cranked out 16,000
horsepower.
 Top Speed was 24 knots.
SCHEDULE
Titanic’s first and only voyage departed from South Hampton, England on
April 10,1912. With a projected arrival in New York City on April 17, 1912,
She departed with 2200 passengers and crew, with only lifeboats for 1178.
On April 18,1912, The Carpathia arrives in New York with the survivors of Titanic

 40 tons of Potatoes
 35,000 lbs of Tomatoes
 7000 heads of Lettuce
 15,000 gals of Fresh Milk
 40,000 Fresh Eggs
 35,000 lbs of Onions

of Newfoundland, Canada. At 2.3 miles below
the surface.
The world’s first unsinkable ship took 3 years to build and 3 hours to sink.
