3. .Pronunciation of the Present Simple
The final -s is pronounced as /z/, if the preceding sound is voiced : vowels, diphthongs, triphthongs //, //, /v/, /g/ // ,/ /, / / / / /
e.g.
goes ,adds , robs ,loves, comes, runs, sings, spells, devours, bathes
After the sounds /t/, /p/, /f/, /k// it is pronounced as /s/,
e.g.
cuts stops, laughs,looks, froths

4. Some verbs change their spelling when s is added in the third person singular.
Verbs ending in y
When a verb ends in y immediately preceded by a consonant, the y is changed to ie before the ending s is added. In each of the

b. Verbs ending in o
