Adobe Animate CC: Tool for the Changing Tech LandscapeJoseph Labrecque
Joseph Labrecque, author of the best-selling book "Learn Adobe Animate CC for Interactive Media" will facilitate a lively discussion of the Animate CC animation and interactivity software with a focus on producing content for educational purposes. We'll start with an overview of the software, its history in education circles, and the impact it's had on the changing technological landscape. We will also have a beginner's demonstration on how faculty and staff can use the software to design and produce useful animations and interactives to supplement classroom and online content.
Animate CC allows an abundance of options when creating both animated and interactive content to enhance learning. Animated infographics... interactive experiments and games - all is possible with Animate. In this session, you'll get a solid introduction to how to create your own engaging content using this fabulously creative application.
Style Guides Are The New Photoshop (Smashing Conference 2012)Stephen Hay
This talk was first presented at Smashing Conference (http://smashingconf.com/).
Use of image editors for creating web design mockups has worked until now, but responsive design is forcing us to find alternatives, as we can't simply create more mockups as we design for more screens. Have no fear, there is at least one method of replacing Photoshop for web design. Let's take a look at one of the most important aspects of this method: the creation of clear, semi-automated, self-updating style guides.
There Are No “Buts” in Progressive Enhancement [Øredev 2015]Aaron Gustafson
Progressive enhancement sounds practical, but not for your current project, right? Good news: you’re wrong!
In this session, Aaron will debunk the myths that often preclude individuals and organizations from embracing progressive enhancement and demonstrate solid techniques for applying progressive enhancement in your work.
By the end of this session, you’ll walk away with
* a better sense of the devices people are using to access the Web,
* a framework for envisioning experience as a continuum, and
* a solid understanding of how to improve the accessibility and reach of your Web projects.
Come find out why progressive enhancement isn’t just for “content” sites (whatever those are).
David Coletta Architecting A Shared Codebase For Browser And Desktop Finaldcoletta
Learn from our experience in adapting a complex codebase like the application Buzzword to run also as an Adobe AIR application. This session addresses the architectural challenges of developing SWF files to be shared between browser and AIR versions. We’ll cover user interface considerations, such as reconciling a single browser window with multiple AIR windows, and technical issues, like problems with the Singleton pattern when using multiple native windows. Other topics include abstracting code that must call AIR only APIs and packaging code into modules that load over HTTP for browsers and load from the file system under AIR.
Search Engines and Flash: Secrets, Tricks, and Black Magicguestb1f3a
Adobe Flash is a binary format and has not always been accessible to search engine spiders (small bits of code that algorithmically determine a page’s content for rankings in search engines). SEO experts have developed several key workarounds and new technical developments have made new functionality available to search engines and developers alike.
Duane Nickull, an Adobe Technical Evangelist, will showcase some advanced tips and tricks to give you the edge over the competition as well as share some secrets. Attendees will learn how to increase initial page rankings as well as monitor and increase dynamic page ranks.
Wes Leonardo - Putting AIR into your Application360|Conferences
The session will cover the unique aspects of taking your applications to the next level with AIR. The session will cover using the SQL Lite database, detecting online/offine, customize the skin of the application and working with the local file system. If you are just getting started and want a great primer to AIR, this is the session for you.
Conquering Gef Part2: Building graphical web-apps with EclipseVineet Sinha
The Graphical Editing Framework (GEF) enables developers to create client-side rich graphical editors based on existing domain models.
In the past building interactive box-and-arrow applications has mostly meant being limited to running them on the desktop. Moving them to the browser required a significant re-write and was only possible after severely limiting the application's capabilities.
Inspired by Eclipse RAP, we have been working on supporting the Eclipse GEF APIs in the browser. The goal is to enable an easy transition of GEF-based client applications to the web and support fully functional visualization applications in the browser.
See http://www.architexa.com/labs#gef for more information on our work.

Ryan Fishberg and Joan Lafferty - ItemsRenderers360|Conferences
Item renderers are often one of the first things developers trip up on when learning Flex. Throughout this presentation, we hope to explain how it works under the hood. We will discuss the different types of item renderers in Flex as well as how virtualization of item renderers work. We will discuss common problems people encounter with item renderers, building item renderers with performance in mind, and how item renderers work in Gumbo (the upcoming release of Flex).
Flex For Java Architects Ledroff Breizh Jug V Blog CcFrançois Le Droff
