Keeping the ship leak free prevents tilting
1. Keeping the
Ship Leak
Free Prevents
Tilting
Running a leaking ship is just equal to running a risky
business or gambling with your reputation and money.
The transport industry is under heavy fire from critics
who are mostly former customers of this industry and
have lost their valuable consignments to the leaking
hatch covers of the transport ships. Ships that have no
hatch cover maintenance and watertight integrity
testing are mostly the culprits which are responsible for
letting the image of the industry down. Due to the
ignorance of these ship’s owners and crew, these ships
let the goods get destroyed by water during their
voyages.
In many cases it has not only been the customer who lost
valuables due to the leaking hatch covers and leaking body
parts in a ship, even the ship owners have had to wash their
hands from their precious ship which either blew up, caught
fire and sunk to the lowest depths of the oceans. It happens
when the water starts entering from the leaks without
control. In many cases water has entered the cables of the
ship which are its nervous system. Entering these
cables, the water caused a short circuit and blew up
everything. Observing these issues, it became necessary to
keep a check on the cables and the cable transit areas
watertight testing became obvious. This helps protect the
nervous system of the ship and keeps it safe from any kind
of damage and short circuit as long as the ship is being used
and is making voyages.
2. Apart from the hatch covers, there are many other moving components on the ship and they also catch rust and spring
leaks. Topping the list are the compartment doors which are a huge problem to the ships because when they spring a leak,
there is no stopping of the water entering the compartments. When water starts entering the compartments it starts
increasing the weight of the ship. If water enters the ship without control, it can clearly disrupt the balance of the ship and
there is a great chance that the ship might tilt and turn turtle. Since a transport ship carries immense weight, tilting it can
be deadly resulting in not only a loss to the ship, but every person onboard and everything it carries. This is the reason why
the watertight compartment doors testing have become very important so that there is no chance of the water entering
the compartments and endangering its balance and well being.
