The resurrection is the power of God’s word that overcomes & subdues all things to him (Philippians 3: 20-21). When christ died he resurrected to life claiming victory over death. During the end of time all humankind, both righteous & wicked, will be resurrected but not at the same time & not all will gain salvation. Many churches in this world do not discuss the doctrine of resurrection and prefer to promote the idea that when you die you go to heaven or hell. This presentation will discuss what the resurrection is and dispel the myth mentioned above.

  • 5. Christ’s resurrectionBefore christ ascended up to god the father the firsttime, mary magdalene was able to see him though she didnot recognize him at first (st. John 20: 13-17)Christ returned to earth again to walk before thedisciples & communed with them for a period of timebefore his final ascension to heavenIn fact, when the disciples saw him they were initiallyafraid but christ stated the following... “And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts. Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.” (Luke 24: 38-40) ©2011 Household Of Israel Temple Of Jesus Christ. All Rights Reserved
  • 6. Christ is our exampleChrist is always our sign &exampleAs you see with the previous 2slides, christ’s soul did notrise up to heaven, nor did heleave his body to decay in thisearthWhen he gave up the ghost, thebreath of life was removedfrom himHe was buried in the ground &his body remained there until itwas time for him to rise up ©2011 Household Of Israel Temple Of Jesus Christ. • 7. Christ is our exampleLike christ, we have theopportunity to overcome deathby achieving our one goal -eternal lifeWe do this by obeying god whichleads us on the path of life(Matthew 19: 16-17, St. John 6:44-51 & St. John 6: 53-58)If we are successful & if it isgod’s will to end our lives, ourbodies will rise from the grave ©2011 Household Of Israel Temple Of Jesus Christ. • 8. two deathsWe are all made out of the dustof the earth & water just asour forefather adamIt is because of the sin in thegarden that sin & death hascorrupted us allThough the breath of lifeflows in our body, we remainfragile & age each dayIt is also this sin that hascaused two deaths includingthe common death & eternaldeath ©2011 Household Of Israel Temple Of Jesus Christ. • 9. Common deathcommon death, which is the first death, is the death ofthe fleshMost people, both the righteous & the wicked, experience the first deathWe know at least 3 people who were signs & did notexperience the common death including enoch, elijahand esdras (genesis 5: 19-24, 2 kings 2: 11 & 2 esdras14: 7-9)Instead their bodies where changed or transfigured &they were taken up to paradiseWe also know that in the last days there will be aremnant of people that will live to see him come ©2011 Household Of Israel Temple Of Jesus Christ. • 10. Common deathWhen a person passes away the breath of lifeis retracted from themThis death is temporary & has been referred toas a sleep (I corinthians 15: 51 & mark 5: 35 &39-41)Why?....when a person is sleeping they canawakeGod’s voice will sound like a trumpet & he willawaken the dead at the time appointed ©2011 Household Of Israel Temple Of Jesus Christ. • 11. Saints & the common death When the saints of God die they go into rest and peace Some of the saints are called to this rest to keep & protect them from evil (Isaiah 26: 19-20, Habbakkuk 3: 16 & Wisdom of Solomon 3: 1-8) Length of life is in the hand of god The death of his saints are precious to him (Psalms 116: 15 & Psalms 68: 20) ©2011 Household Of Israel Temple Of Jesus Christ. • 12. Saints & the common death “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” (John 11: 25-26) this scripture is hope & a promise from god “Though he were dead, yet he shall live,” means that though the saints may experience the common death he will raise them back up to gain eternal life “And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die,” indicates that you will not die the eternal or final death if you live in him To live in christ is to walk like him, which means you keep the laws of god ©2011 Household Of Israel Temple Of Jesus Christ. • 20. Immortality of the soul Research reveals that the belief that the soul is immortal began with the pagan religion of egypt the idea of soul’s immortality did not cease with egyptian civilization and was passed onto the greeks Greek philosophers, such as plato, justified this belief by making it appear wise and logical ©2011 Household Of Israel Temple Of Jesus Christ. • 21. Immortality of the soul This belief was eventually perpetuated to the early catholic church fathers who viewed the greek philosophers to be just as authentic and knowledgeable of the truth as the prophets of the bible The greatest catholic theologians wrote works that sought to merge christianity with greek philosophy All of this influence has led to the belief that when you die you go to heaven or hell ©2011 Household Of Israel Temple Of Jesus Christ.
