2. WHAT WAS THE HOLOCAUST?
• The holocaust was when the Nazis ruled Germany,
they believed that a perfect world would only have
a race full of blond hair and blue eyed Germans.
• Other races were not welcomed.
• Jews were the main targets
• Hitler blamed the Jews for their divergence.
• The Jews were held accountable for the problems
encountered during that time period.
3. MORE ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST
• Jews were taken from their homes from the Nazis.
• Men, women and children were forced to hide and
anyone who helped them escape were severely
punished.
4. • Anne Frank was an eleven year old girl who kept a
diary that described her life during WWII. Her family
hid in an attic with other Jews to avoid from being
sent to concentration camps. On August 4,1944 the
Franks were discovered by the police and were
sent to concentration camps. Her father Otto Frank
was the only one to survive from(Berman).
5. CONCENTRATION CAMPS
• Jews and prisoners were divided into groups; the
ones who were able to work were sent to
concentration camps and the weak were sent to
the gas chamber where they were killed.
• Prisoners wore striped uniforms
• They were identified with numbers on their clothing
• “…An inverted triangle with lettering to signify the
reason for imprisonment” (London Jewish Cultural
Centre 2011).
• The yellow triangle identified them as Jewish.
6. AFTERMATH
• Six million people died
• Soldiers found Jews and non Jewish survivors- almost
starved to death.
• Tens of thousands holocaust survivors migrated
westward to European territories where they were
housed in refugee centers.
