This document summarizes and analyzes the contents pages of three different magazines. It discusses the layout, typography, use of images, and other design elements employed in each contents page. Key points emphasized include the use of contrasting colors to make headings stand out, inclusion of pictures related to articles, and use of editor notes, band quotes, and cover thumbnails to engage readers. While styles vary between the magazines, all contents pages aim to clearly guide readers through the publication with design cues.
2. This contents page is very informative for the
reader, it is clear and neatly organised
including page numbers which will guide the
reader through the magazine.
In the typography the main headings are
reversed out with black writing on a yellow
background, this makes certain points stand
out as they are clashing colours.
There are many pictures featured in this
contents page because they link with the
articles found in the magazine.
At the top left of the magazine there is an
editors note and also a thumbnail of the cover.
The title at the top right of the page follows the
same design as the rest of the page with
clashing colours to make it stand out to the
reader
Underneath the title we are given a quote from
the band ‘Metallica’ which will attract readers
as they are a popular band.
3. This contents page is also very informative for
the reader and like the last one it features many
of the same elements such as number and bold
guidelines which help the reader find their way
through the magazine.
In the typography, the main titles are in reversed
out like the last magazine I analysed before, the
clashing colours make it more appealing to
readers.
There is also a lot of images on the contents
page as they are relevant to the stories found in
the magazine.
On the top left of the contents page there is an
editors note with a thumbnail of the editor which
involves the readers with the people who are
involved in the magazine
There is a quote from antiflag which will attract
fans of that particular band.
In the main headlines, the subheadpines have
been made more visible as they are main
stories they would like the reader to view.
4. Q magazines contents page has quite a
simple layout. It is highly textual but still uses
images with the main stories.
This has a much more subtle tone compared
to my previous analyses.
They have used colouring of red, black, white
and a beige colour on their ‘Oasis special’
section. They have gone along with the theme
of the magazine logo colours which is evident
on the cover I analysed too however it is
calmed down a tone with the black behind the
main titles.
There is a main image for the main and most
popular story, there is also a thumbnail sized
photo near the section of their reviews.
Along the top right of the page they have the
issue number, date and year of the magazine
which keeps the readers in time with the
magazine if they wanted to collect of keep
them.
