Tony Hulman made a particular command popular and
famous, something his widow Mary F. Hulman or his
daughter, Mari Hulman George have continued after his
death. In 1977, controversy surrounded the
command, because the Speedway management did not
want to alter the traditional phrase. During the week before
the race, the management announced that they would not
change the wording of the command making the excuse that
the cars were actually started by crew members. A particular
crew reacted by assigning Kay Bignotti as the crew member
to operate the inertial starter. The Speedway's argument fell
apart, and they decided upon a special amended command
for that year. What phrase and why the controversy?

X is a court game invented in the northern
provinces of Italy during the 16th century. This form
is played at professional level in Italy where there
are two varieties: the first kind taking place in a
specialised sports venue with a lateral wall which
permits the ball to rebound; the second kind being
played in an open playing field without a lateral
wall. Five players regularly form a side, each
carrying in one hand an implement called a X. A
rubber ball generally larger than a tennis ball is
used. What connects it to the world of motorsports?

• The term X is derived from the name of a town whose
name is known back to Roman times, when the location
was sometimes incorrectly connected to the Latin word
meaning to scatter, sprinkle or moisten. Since medieval
times, illnesses caused by iron deficiency were treated by
drinking iron-bearing spring water. In 16th-century
England, the old Roman ideas of medicinal bathing were
revived at towns like Bath and in 1596 William Slingsby
who had been to the town X, discovered such a spring in
Yorkshire. He built an enclosed well at what became
known as Harrogate, the first resort in England for
drinking medicinal waters. Why is this town part of this

The Tyrrell P34, also called the ―six wheeler‖ was a

developed in 1978, the six-wheeled Tyrrell was one of
the two most radical entries ever to succeed in F1

It first ran in the Spanish GP in 1976, and proved to be
very competitive. Both Jody Scheckter and Patrick

Scheckter realised it would only be temporarily
