Ovulation Test Instructions
Understanding Luteinizing hormone

Donna asks…

Have ovulation predictor test but no instructions. Can you help?
First and second windows have lines in them?
I had ectopic and right tube removed 2 mos ago. We’re trying again! A friend shared a
left-over ovulation predictor test, but forgot to tell me how to read it. I took it today and it shows
a vertical line in both windows… the second window is darker than the fist. Any ideas?

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

One of the windows is a test and the other is the control. The test line has to be the same color
or darker than the control line. Sometimes women will have a light line in their test window.
GOOD LUCK and BABYYY DUSTTT!!!!!

                                                                                                1/6
Ruth asks…

ovulation test without instructions?
A friend of my girlfriends gave her some meijer brand ovulation tests, but we have no Idea how
to read them. What does one line mean?

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

One lines means that you’re not ovulating. Two lines, if one is lighter than the other also means
that you’re not ovulating. If you have two lines (dark or the same color) then you are ovulating
and should ttc within 24 hrs after the test. Good luck. I hope I helped you with my instructions.

Mary asks…

                                                                                            2/6
HELP! I lost my instructions for a ovulation test I bought at target
it compares to clearblue easy ovulation t?
HELP! I lost my instructions for a ovulation test I bought at target it compares to clearblue
easy ovulation test. Mine is a target brand called ovulation test one step. it has 7 tests if it
helps someone please tell me what is + and what is – !
There is a round area and a square area one line in both I know that there is no – or + I know
that you can tell by one box being darker then the other but I do not know witch one needs to be
darker then the other.
I do not know witch one is the control line the one in the round box or the square box?

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

Many ovulation tests are different so unless we see the test, it would be hard to say. The best
way to get to the bottom of this is to goggle the company and test name, locate their 1-800
number and call them. Tell them what has happened and they can either tell you over the phone
how to interpret your test or they may offer to email or fax you the instructions. I can not answer
either way, because I am not sure of the exact test you took.

Best of luck

Laura asks…

Should i do my ovulation test in the evening?

                                                                                             3/6
When is the best time of day to take the urine ovulation tests?

I’m going to take one today but not sure when i will get the best results.
the test instructions say between 10am – 8pm. that’s a big time frame.
it says not to use ur first morning urine as u can get an inaccurate result.

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

I heard it was best to take them twice a day. One around late morning (11am) and one before 8
pm. The hormones for ovulation are best during those times.

Helen asks…

Positive Ovulation Test for 6 days in a row?
I have been testing for ovulation since day 11 of this cycle, today is day 23 of a 34/35 day
cycle. I am using Answer Brand ovulation tests, the instruction say to use first morning urine so
that is what I have been doing. Since day 19 (last week Thursday) I have been getting positive
results every morning.

What is going on?? Could they be false positives?

                                                                                           4/6
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

First of all… That is strange that it says to use the first morning urine, mine actually say NOT to
use the first urine and that the best time to test is between 10am and 8pm after restricting fluids
prior to testing.

Secondly, are you sure it’s a positive result? This may sound like I’m assuming your stupid,
and I’m not, but remember on an OPK that the test line has to be equally dark or darker than
the control line to be positive… A faint line doesn’t mean anything, unlike a HPT.

Maria asks…

When doing an ovulation test, do u actually have to not pee for 2
hours beforehand?
When doing an ovulation test strip, do u actually have to not pee for 2 hours prior to testing?

On the instructions it only says to reduce fluid intake 2 hours prior to testing.

What did u do for best results?
The ovulation tests say not to use your first morning urine.

                                                                                              5/6
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

Its true the longer you wait the better because you will have greater concentration of hormones
in the urine and the test will be more accurate. Instead of trying to hold your pee you might want
to try testing first thing in the morning every day. Its convenient and besides its best to test
same time each day. Hope it helps. Good luck!
