Mark asks…
Arrive int’ Kl next domestic flight after 10 hours. What happens to
luggage? Can i stay at the airside hotel?
Arrive KL at 10pm by MAS. Next morning flight to Langkawi by same carrier. Want to stay at
the airside transit hotel for the night. Is it possible to check in my luggage to the final
destination? Or do i need to clear immigration and customs and collect luggage..in that case
can I still stay at the airside hotel. Don’t wanna go outside the airport for the night..
Cuti-cuti Malaysia answers:
If a flight involves an overnight stop, you need to retrieve your bags and clear customs and
Immigration. Then recheck-in for the domestic flight. If the flight do not involve an overnight
break,[i.e. Involving MAS confirmed connecting flights departing on the same day] your
baggage will be “check-through” and you clear immigration at the transit hall, then broad the
domestic flight. You would have been given a boarding pass when you initially check-in at the
start of your journey. However, there may be slight changes from time to time, so it is advisable
to ask when you first check in.

Cuti-cuti Malaysia answers:
I think it would be better to book as early as you can, it’s christmas season, most hotels get
booked out by tourists as early as november especially the nicer hotels. Sometimes hotels offer
early bird discounts too

to all malaysians and to those who have been there! I got
questions about Malaysia?
I will go to Malaysia tomorrow (4th of November and come back on 11th) with my wife.. we went
to London for honeymoon 3 moths ago and it was great. i was telling my wife that our trip to
Malaysia would be much more exciting. But I am afrais that my timing wasn’t right because of
the rain there.. what can you tell me about the weather in Kuala lumpur ( wehere we are going
to stay in 4th, 5th, 9th and 10th of Nov) and in Langkawi (6th, 7th, 8th of Nov).. what should we
wear?
One more thing: we are going to stay in Corus hotel in KL and in Aseania resort in Langkawi..
How much should i pay for the cap in both places from the airport? I’ve been told not to change
money at the airport,, where should i change it? (from $ to Ring.)Thanks for helping me
Thanks for your answers, it is really very useful! Is it safe to walk arround in a night (arround
20.00H)? where could we find some good restaurants? what is the best way for transportation
when we want to see KL important places?
Cuti-cuti Malaysia answers:
I was in KL for the last weekend and it was not raining, so you may be lucky. The rains seems to
be delayed this year. Unfortunately, that means it was hot. But weather forecast for the next few
days is rain, so all the best to you.
I move around KL in T-shirt, bermudas and sandals. However, if you plan on going to visit a
mosque, please note that you will need to be “covered up”. Short sleeve t-shirt and long pants
would be best. Your wife may need head covering for the mosque. Other wise, casual is ok.
Langkawi is definitely casual. It’s a beach!
Taxi to Corus Hotel from airport should be about RM60 – RM70. You need to buy a limo taxi
coupon from the airport (you will see it after the customs), so you do not need to worry about

4. getting ripped off. However, there are 2 choices, i.e. Budget and Premier limos. If you do not
have too much luggage (I suppose there is only 2 of you) do not let them talk you into getting
the premier taxis. The budget taxis are good enough.
I do not know about Langkawi, but I guess the taxis there would be similar.
Changing money: Airport money changers give slightly worse rates, so if you need small
amounts, it’s fine. Otherwise, you can walk to KLCC or Ampang Park (nearby shopping
centres) and look for a Money Changer. Normally their rates are displayed so you will know
what you are getting.
Lastly, ENJOY!
Edit: Hope you read this before you depart! Walking around at 20.00 is safe depending on
which area you are in. E.g. KLCC area, Bukit Bintang areas have a lot of nightlife and is
relatively safe. Practise common sense, e.g. Do not wander into back lanes or dark alleys or be
too trusting and you should be fine. You can find lots of good food all over KL, KLCC, Bukit
Bintang areas have lots of good restaurants. For the best street food, go to Jalan Alor near
Bukit Bintang.
As for the important places in KL, you are staying between 2 LRT stations (Ampang Park and
KLCC), so you can use the LRT for a number of places. For places not near LRT stations, you
may need to take a taxi. They may overcharge slightly but they are still the best way to move
about.

5. I’m travelling to Langkawi on 5-8 June, with a 5 year old girl. Please give me the necessary tips
on what to take, where to eat, what my daughter will enjoy doing most there, etc…
P.S.: I have reserved the hotel Awana. Is it in a good place? How is it in general and what do
you recommend?
Cuti-cuti Malaysia answers:

shovana.. Langkawi is one of my fave places..
You can sign up for island hopping and eagle feeding activities..
(signing up is available at awana resort too)
im not sure if your daughter like to swim, you might not wanna take her for snorkling.but just go
to the snorkling area, dipping at knee length water..you can see various little fishes that swim
around you, as if they know you wont hurt them..
If you rule out that, you can take her to langkawi underwater world…
Food wise, most of the restaurant in langkawi tend to be pricy..
But there’s one particular resaturant i like, and if you like seafood tom yum or black pepper
beef..you can try Laman Ria restaurant..
Have fun!
ADD : shovana..this blogger stayed in awana i her previous langkawi trip..well,it looks comfy
and beautiful to me..
You might wanna check it out..

I really wish I could help but there doesn’t seem to be an easy answer. However I would
suggest you not worry about it. If he didn’t recognize your value then you’re better off without
him. Have a great day!
