Penang or Langkawi.
Kaki Cuti Cuti Malaysia answers:
Nuthin … Go to East Malaysia … There they have Mulu Caves, Mt. Kinabalu, headhunters,
blowpipes, long houses and many more exciting things …
As for food, they have plenty of fresh seafood at stupendous price … If you prefer exotic food,
they have sago worms, local raw fish, raw wild boar meat, montoku (distilled spirit), rice wine etc
…

3. Calling a Malaysia expert. Please help?
I am going to Malaysia in two months for a holiday. I am spending the first half of the trip in
Penang and then getting a ferry to Langkawi for the rest.
Ferry information is very limited. I have found out the ferry only runs twice a day and I have the
times, but how do I purchase the ticket as I have been told I need to get one days in advance.
Thanks for your help.
Kaki Cuti Cuti Malaysia answers:
Don’t worry, buy it in Penang when you are there. U can get them at the Langkawi ferry
terminal itself or go to many of the agents in Chulia Street, Penang. I would suggest go to the
agents in Chulia Street, there are plenty of them. They are open until late evening (8pm).
Maria asks…
Can you name any travel companies that are similar to Kuoni for
Far East Multi-trip holidays?
Im looking to book my honeymoon and want a Far East multi centre type holiday for 2 weeks
eg: Kuala Lumpur + Borneo + Langkawi or Kuala Lumpur + Borneo + Penang that kind of thing.

4. Kuoni seem to provide really nice 5 star places but Id like to compare the with other companies
(but well know ones – eg Virgin but they dont do this kind of trip?)
Any ideas – plus any expereince of similar trips – advice etc would be great! Plus is 2 weeks
enough?
Kaki Cuti Cuti Malaysia answers:
Have always found Travelbag to be excellent in putting together bespoke holidays going where
you want when you want and doing what you want.
Don’t be put off – they’re not a “bucket shop” they’re very reliable
Hayes & Jarvis are another that do good multi-centre luxury stuff there too

Is this kinda like a tourism assignment?
There’s a lot that is great about Malaysia, and having been to Sabah, Penang, Malaka and
(staying in) KL, I’d say that there’s so much to cover, you’d better decide on the scope of your
assignment. Saying that it’s about Malaysia would be too generic.
Malaysia has great diversity in terms of:
1) Race
Not only Malay, Chinese, and Indian, but the local aborigines also like Murut, Rungus, Kadazan
etc.
2) Culture
With our different races, we’ve got different practices, celebrations and beliefs. You might want
to highlight how we manage to merge our diversified practices, and still live in harmony with
each other.
3)Celebrations.
Where else do you celebrate New Year, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Thaipusam, Deepavali,
Wesak, Christmas etc all in one country? I figure if there are other celebrations to be had, we
Malaysians would also be more than happy to celebrate!
4) Food.
Yes, some states are better known for their food than anything else. It’s still an on-going debate
between my father (who’s from Penang) and his best friend (who is from Melaka) who serves
the better variety of food. Malaysian staples would be like Satay, Roti Canai, Naan, Nasi Lemak,
Laksa, Char Koey Teow, Bubur Chacha, Cendol …(I’m listing my favourites here) If there’s any
speciality in Sarawak, go ahead and highlight that as well.
5)Holiday Activities
There’s so much to do in Malaysia, you’ll have to prioritize what kind of activities to do here:
– Nature Tourism: Mountain climbing, white water rafting, jungle trekking, river cruise, animal
retreats / conservation sites, cave explorations, island hopping etc
–R&R: Beach and resorts all across Malaysia
–Medical Tourism: foreigners actually have their surgery here in Malaysia, and then rest and
recover under the excellent care of the Malaysian hotels.
–Culture tourism: visiting the local villages and sometimes staying overnight in an ‘authentic’
village.
6) Arts and craft
5/6
6. Malaysia has so many types of craft, from rattan to wood to batik to leather to metals. Even our
local toys are considered special to the identity of Malaysia: Wau, congkak and gasing are what
I can think of right now
7) Shopping
There are plenty of shopping destinations in Malaysia. Duty free items would be in Labuan,
Langkawi and most airports. In KL, shopping will definitely congregate at KLCC, MidValley,
1Utama, and The Curve. And those are just the ones I go to.
I hope that some of these points helps you with your assignment. I’m including some online
references to help with your research.
Good luck
