4. PQA Plus Forum Advisement
The Forum Advisement presented by an Indiana Pork Association
delegate.
Motion: The National Pork Board is encouraged to develop an online course/exam
for first time PQA Plus certifications
***********************************************************
Rationale:
PQA Plus training plays an important role in educating those who work in the
pork industry. As the role of technology becomes more prevalent on our farms, a
natural extension of that technological development should include additional
options for educating our employees. High turnover, multiple sites, and time
constraints can make in-person trainings difficult, where online training would be
readily available. In an online course, the material and the presentation of that
material would be completely consistent—eliminating variance between individual
trainers.
5. PQA/TQA Updates for 2017
• The National Pork Board and PQA Task Force have voted to:
Allow 1st
time PQA individuals to contact a PQA Advisor to request
an online certification training.
• TQA Task Force agreed to follow the lead and allow 1st
time TQA
individuals to contact a TQA Advisor to request online
certification training.
• The National Pork Board IT Department will have to do some
behind the scenes programing the remainder of 2016 to allow for
these adjustments to be made to the certification programs.

Medication & Treatment Records up 2%
Daily Records up 3%
Written Euthanasia Plan up 3%
The other areas were up as well, but not as much improvement. Only a couple of areas were down and that was in the facility and air quality (but look at the time of year)
Examples of the content slides.
New Color schemes so you know it’s a new program. This version is orange and gray, the last version was red.
Examples of the content slides.
This is an example of the knowledge check. So each of the chapters will have knowledge questions at the end, so Advisors can quiz participants. Some of these questions will be on the exams.
An example of the online mini modules.
This mini module, the learner watches a short video clip
Then the learner will be asked to select on of the 3 options that best responds to the video.
An example of the online mini modules.
This interaction has audio asking the question at the top of the screen: In your position, you have a huge impact on how the situation we just saw plays out.
The learner then selects the tasks that they play a role in. They can select as many options as they have a role in.
There will be feedback after they select their roles.
An example of the online mini modules.
These are role specific and this is the Transporter activity
The learner first selects their role – handling or transport:
Then the scenario for that role is read to the learner. The learner then clicks on the picture or personal protective equipment that they will need for that scenario and drags it to the tote.
An example of the online mini modules.
These are role specific and this is the Handler activity
The learner will become comfortable with which piece of handling equipment should be used with which phase of pigs through a scenario questions.
The Learner sees images and click on them to make them larger.
The Learner drags the ranking for each piece of equipment for the specific role as:
Most preferred
Second preferred
Acceptable (This option might show up for a two of the pieces of equipment).
4. Some of the Feedback will have more information about other pieces of equipment like the electric prod and how to properly use that by role of Handler or Transporter.
An example of the online mini modules.
This modules has short videos that will be shown and one way is the correct way to utilize the piece of equipment and the other way is incorrect in how to use the equipment.
The Learner selects the most appropriate use of the equipment
The feedback they is telling the Learner what was incorrect with the video and how to properly use that piece of equipment.
