  • 18. Can man fix it?
    • “… in my ecological and Peak Oil research over the last several years I have begun to see the shape of a looming catastrophe that has absolutely nothing to do with human intentions, good or ill.  It is the simple product of our species' continuing growth in both numbers and ability, an exponential growth that is taking place within the finite ecological niche of the entire world.  Our recent effusive growth has been fuelled by the draw-down of primordial stocks of petroleum which are about to deplete while our numbers and activities continue to grow.  This is a simple, obvious recipe for disaster .”

  • 19. Can man fix it?
    • “ Today, many people who are concerned about overpopulation and environmental degradation believe that human actions can avert catastrophe. The prevailing view holds that a stable population that does not tax the environment’s “carrying capacity” would be sustainable indefinitely, and that this state of equilibrium can be achieved through a combination of birth control, conservation, and reliance on “renewable” resources. Unfortunately, worldwide implementation of a rigorous program of birth control is politically impossible. Conservation is futile as long as population continues to rise. And no resources are truly renewable.” Source: Dr David Price, Cornell University
  • 20. Conclusion: No, man cannot fix it!
  • 21. So who can transform the world?
    • Who is it that has:
      • the vision
      • the strength
      • the knowledge
      • the speed
      • the power
      • the action?
  • 22. The vision of Jesus:
    • “ But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.”
    • Numbers 14:21
  • 23. His power and strength
    • “ Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king's son [Jesus].
    • He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.
    • The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness.
    • He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
    • They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations.
    • He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.
    • In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.
    • He shall have dominion also from sea to sea , and from the river unto the ends of the earth.
    • They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust.” Psalm 72:1-9
  • 24. His power is of God
    • His power knows no practical bounds:
    • “And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him ?” Mark 4:41
  • 25. He has the knowledge & power
    • “ And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne … Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb [Jesus] that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
    • And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb [Jesus] for ever and ever.” Revelation 5:11-13
  • 26. Conclusion: Jesus has all the necessary qualities
  • 27. Thank you…
    • There will now be a short interval…
  • 28. Five key questions…
    • Is time running out?
    • Can man fix it?
    • Who does have the qualities to transform the world we live in?
    • SHORT INTERVAL
    • What will the world be like under the rulership of Jesus?
    • How can we participate in this new world?
  • 29. A world transformed
    • “ But in the last days it shall come to pass , that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
    • And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
    • And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
    • But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it.
    • For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.” Micah 4:1-5
  • 30. A world transformed
    • “ And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
    • And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain : for the former things are passed away.
    • And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.” Revelation 21:3-5
  • 31. So, how does this sound?
    • No famine, pain and suffering
    • No sickness, disease and death
    • No ageing, weakness or tiredness
    • No injustice, sorrow or mourning
    • BUT…
    • Life everlasting
    • Ruling with Jesus in his Kingdom
    • The joy of perfect spirit nature
  • 32. Conclusion: This is the reward of the saints
  • 33. How can we be with Jesus?
    • “ Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
    • Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you .
    • Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”
    • John 15:13-15
  • 34. What are Jesus’ commands?
    • That we should:
    • Believe in him and his Father
    • Repent of our old way of life
    • Be baptised in his name
    • Spend our lives steadfast in the Faith, producing the works of the Spirit
  • 35. The words of Jesus…
    • “And he [Jesus] said unto them [the apostles], Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
    • He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Mark 16:15-16
  • 36. Conclusion: Now is the day of opportunity, grasp it!
