Motivation can be defined in the following ways;
An Internal or External drive that prompts a person to action.
The ability to initiate and persist toward a chosen objective ;
Putting 100% of your time , efforts , energy , and focus into your
goal attainment;
Being able to pursue change in the face of obstacles, boredom,
fatigue, stress and the desire to do other things;
The determination to resist ingrained and unhealthy patterns
and habits;

4. Disadvantages of Motivating Employee
There are no real disadvantages to successfully motivating
employees, but there are many barriers to overcome. Barriers
may include unaware or absent managers , include unaware
or absent managers, inadequate building , outdated
equipment, and entrenched attitudes, for example:
“We don’t get paid extra to work harder.”
“We ‘ve always done it this way”
“Our bosses doesn’t have clue what we do.”
“It doesn’t say in our job description.”
“I’m going to do as little as possible without getting fired.”

Transparency goes a long way toward assuaging employee doubts about an
organizational change, and allows workers to feel more involved with your
company's new initiatives.
Employees see right through an owner who doesn't speak using direct
language. Keeping communication open and positive during an
organizational change keeps workers motivated, and may even lead to new
ideas you didn't consider when first implementing this change.
