Editorial
s the drama of migrants fleeing their currently hostile homelands and
looking for a sanctuary in Europe continues, there seems to be no end in
sight to the sequence of challenges faced by the European Union.
The migrant crisis is obviously a problem of immense proportions. There’s no
easy way to predict what impact it will ultimately have, not only in Europe, but
in many countries directly and indirectly involved.
Most of the reactions from European politicians have been in favour of aiding
the migrants as much as possible. After all, most European countries have
received some sort of aid in the past, particularly after both World Wars.
But once again what has become rapidly apparent is how difficult it is for the
European Union countries to convey a common position on foreign policy. Each
country’s government is constantly balancing its individual interests – the ones
that usually result in votes and re-election – with the less immediate common
interests of the Union.
There is an outstanding example of this dysfunction, one that affects
international road transportation in Europe. On January 1st
, Germany introduced
a national minimum wage of 8.50€/hour, applicable even to foreign truck drivers
simply passing through to other destinations with the intent of staving off wage
dumping. For instance, Germany's new measure requires a Polish truck driver
who is heading to Spain to be paid at 8.50 euros per hour from the moment the
driver crosses the German border, before reverting to the wage paid in the
driver's home country on leaving German soil.
The European Commission, in response, launched legal action against Germany,
accusing the government of illegally applying the national minimum wage to a
number of trucking and haulage companies from Austria, Poland and Hungary.
Whilst in the meantime, both Austria and France have already announced
similar measures.

Denis Trans boosts operational efficiency with Frotcom
The international transport company from Slovenia relies heavily on Frotcom to
efficiently manage its operations and fleet costs, giving them tighter control over its
business.
Slovenia-based Denis Trans is a young, fast-growing local and international road
haulage company in an increasingly competitive regional market. For the past year-
and-a-half, Denis Trans has been using
Frotcom and its specialized modules to
optimize its business operations and
manage the fleet.
Keenly aware of the need to stand-out
from the pack in a booming
marketplace, Denis Trans was looking
for solutions to reduce operational
overhead, simplify vehicle routing and
enable effective cost control to get the
most from its fleet of 13 vehicles - half
of which are vans, the other half are
trucks over 7,5t.
Frotcom’s fleet management solution provided exactly the all-in-one answer Denis
Trans needed. A showcase presentation by Frotcom Slovenia spotlighted the simple,
practical, economical and reliable platform as well as its numerous optional
features. Denis Trans leveraged a number of Frotcom optional features, resulting in
both savings and growth:
The CANBus module extracts relevant information from the trucks’ electronic
circuits and sends that information to be processed by Frotcom, contributing
to minimize fuel, reduce maintenance costs and improve driving behaviour.
The Cost Management module provides integrated cost/km and cost/hour
analysis, cross-checking real time vehicle data, spotlighting issues, and keeping
fleet costs under control.
The Integrated Navigation, and Route Planning and Monitoring modules make
even complex tasks easy to carry out. These modules allow for improved route-
planning, updating and monitoring from the home-office and two-way
messaging between managers and drivers.
According to Mr. Denis Horvat, owner of Deni Trans, “We are very pleased with
Frotcom, it is an irreplaceable tool, one that every transport company should use.
With functions like tracking, two-way communication, cost and fuel management,
we were able to optimize routes, communication, fees and customer service so the
clients can see any time where their cargo is, in real time.“
Roadmap congratulates Frotcom Slovenia for this successful project...

Frotcom Bulgaria supports local rally scene
Long-time supporter of the local rally
scene, Frotcom Bulgaria will be
sponsoring the driving team of Shtilian
Tenchev (pilot) and Jordan Jordanov
(co-pilot) in the upcoming
championships.
While the local circuit was recently
marred by a fatal accident, rally officials
and authorities agreed it remains the
perfect venue to launch local talent and
promote international participation.
With Frotcom Bulgaria’s support, the
Tenchev/Jordanov team is racing to
face new challenges despite engine
problems forcing them to drop out of
the 46th
Rally Bulgaria.
Roadmap congratulates Frotcom Bulgaria for this renewed partnership.
Frotcom Romania takes to the highway
Raising brand awareness in a media-saturated urban environment is one of the
biggest challenges that companies face today.
Frotcom Romania has been tackling this issue, by investing in highway billboards
since March 2015.
The billboards, located along
Romania's A1 highway, garner much
greater attention on the uncluttered
highway and single out Frotcom’s
prime audience: transport firms, fleet
owners, and administrators for whom
the highway is a major artery and
gateway.
To maximize exposure, the 14m x 4m billboards are two-faced and present
Frotcom in a short, but intuitive form - taking into account highway speeds and
driver attention.
Roadmap congratulates Frotcom Romania for this successful initiative.
Send messages via Interact
Designed to provide an efficient mean
of communication between all fleet
drivers and the office, the Interact tab
houses the messages you have to send
to your drivers via the Frotcom map.
By clicking on a vehicle in the Context
Menu, you can choose the Send
messages option at the bottom of the
menu.
A field for sending a message to that
particular driver will appear on the
screen. Since you right-clicked on a
specific vehicle, the drivers’ contact
information is automatically filled in.
You can input the message you want to
send or you can click on the Frequent
messages, and input customized text
messages. This is helpful whenever you
have a short, but commonly used
message to send.
Below the messages list you can choose
to Create a new message, Edit a
selected message or Delete the
selected message.
Once you have a message selected, you
can click Use selected to choose the
message. Then you just click Send
message, to send it to the driver.
To check the messages you sent to your
drivers, just click on the Interact tab,
and then on the Sent messages sub-
tab.
Tip of the month!
