The Newark Public Library underwent extensive renovations including power washing, installing new walls, windows, roof, lighting, electrical work, network wiring, leveling the ground to create a parking lot, painting, moving books and setting up new sections. Volunteers helped with many parts of the project over several months. The renovation transformed the building into a modern library facility with a children's section, audio/video section, computers, study areas and more for the community.
11. The glass in the windows and door is a low-e glass, tempered, insulated and laminated, with an aluminum bronze frame.
12. The roof was replaced where it was rotten and leaking… …then the insulation was installed.
13. New lighting was donated by Silverado Mechanical Services… …and bathroom fixtures were donated by Morrison Supply.
14. All the electrical needed to be replaced…then, at the last minute, we discovered that we needed to find a new electrician to complete the job as soon as possible… Brad Pierson volunteered to hang all the lights to make the job easier on the electricians who worked long days with no rest to complete this for us. Thank you A-Line Electric!
15. All new cat 6e network wiring was run for optimal network performance.
16. The mound of dirt was leveled to create a parking lot
17. Reclaimed asphalt was added and smoothed to create a clean, mud free parking lot and drive.
18. Then the new walls were textured and everything got paint! Here come the volunteers again! Homer
19. The ceiling, rafters and top of walls were sprayed with a black, dry fall paint… …it was a messy job!
