19. 5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?” Pentecost – Acts 2

21. Romans 15:18-24 For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience—by word and deed, 19 by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God—so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ; 20 and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, 21 but as it is written, “Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.” 22 This is the reason why I have so often been hindered from coming to you. 23 But now, since I no longer have any room for work in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to come to you, 24 I hope to see you in passing as I go to Spain, and to be helped on my journey there by you, once I have enjoyed your company for a while. Set the historical stage of Israel:People mad about foreigners/invaders in their midst instead of blessing them.Do you view immigrants the same way? What was God’s purpose in the Roman Occupation/Dispersion?
Jesus fully identified with our world and it’s people without altering in any way his own identity and values. This is OUR mission.John 20:21 (New King James Version)21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
And Joseph and His mother[h] marveled at those things which were spoken of Him.
16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: 18“ The Spirit of the LORDisupon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel tothepoor; He has sent Meto heal the brokenhearted,[j] To proclaim liberty tothecaptives And recovery of sight totheblind, Toset at liberty those who areoppressed; 19To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”[k]20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” 22 So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?”------------------------28 So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, 29 and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff.
Many times Jesus traveled outside the boundaries of Israel: Samaria, Tyre & SidonCanaanite Woman:But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” 27 And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” Roman Centurion“Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! 11 And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Right after the triumphal entry. People expected Jesus to overthrow the Romans, but instead he goes to the court of the Gentiles.Isaiah 56:7 (New King James Version)7 Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices Will be accepted on My altar; For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” One of the few times when Christ expressed anger it was the failure to reach out to the nations. How often do we allow our own church programs to crowd out ministry to the unreached? Building programs, lack of strategic focus.
The Jews, even disciples cared about Jesus overthrowing the Romans.Only concerned about themselves, which hid the truth from them. Jesus kept telling them He had to die for the sins of the world. Are we like that today?

“Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word”25 So when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.Peter:28 Then he said to them, “You know how unlawful it is for a Jewish man to keep company with or go to one of another nation. But God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.
Paul was controlled by a holy ambition. Paul is not a local evangelist; he’s a frontier missionary, a pioneer missionary. There are frontier or pioneer missionaries, and there are evangelists. Missionaries cross cultures and learn languages. And frontier missionaries pour out their lives “by word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God” to break through thousands of years of darkness and the reign of Satan over a people who do not know the King of kings and the Savior of the world. every church should pray that God raise up many frontier missionaries, and make all of us evangelists.
