Founded in 1994, the Coalition of Residential Excellence (CORE) is an organization dedicated to improving residential care and public support for children in need, especially in high-risk communities. Its functions are many and include providing financial support and awards for deserving school districts and administrators, such as current Milton Hershey School President Pete Gurt '85 in 2009. Milton Hershey School has received several awards from the Coalition of Residential Excellence several times for the work of their students and administrators.
