1. Making Beeswax Candles Using Beeswax Sheets
A beeswax candle has a special characteristic that a paraffin candle does not have. Beeswax candles burn cleaner and
longer than the other types of candles that is why it is environmentally-friendly. It does not contain any chemicals which is
harmful. It also comes with a sweet and natural scent of honey that is why fragrance oil is no longer needed when making
them. That is why many people love to light up a beeswax candle instead of any other type of candle.
There are actually two methods of making beeswax candles. The first one is the conventional method of making a candle
which involves melting the wax. The second one, which is the focus of this article, requires no melting throughout the
process.
Making Beeswax Candles Using Beeswax Sheet:
Unlike the conventional method of candle making, this method only needs a beeswax sheet and a strand of wick. Colored
dye is also not needed because beeswax sheets come in different colors. People on the go or kids who want to learn a
new craft can enjoy this, simply because it is easy to make. No need for a melting pot, regulating the temperature and
pouring the melted wax in a molding jar. A beeswax sheet and a strand of wick are all the materials needed for this candle
making project. Beeswax sheets can be bought from any candle store or from online suppliers.
Just lay the beeswax sheet on a flat surface. Then place the wick on the edge of the sheet. Make sure that the wick is two
inches longer than the beeswax sheet. Press the wick firmly onto the sheet and slowly roll the beeswax sheet up around
it. This should be done slowly and gently to avoid any air being trapped in between layers of beeswax. Once the desired
thickness is achieved, trim the excess parts of sheet then gently press the sheet’s edge to seal it.
Just remember not to rush the rolling of the beeswax around the wick because it might result in a distorted candle. If the
beeswax sheet is too stiff, a hairdryer set at the lowest setting can soften the sheet a little. Simple it is, right? Even kids
can make beeswax candles because it is safe – no need to melt the wax which sometimes could cause skin injuries if you
are not careful. Lastly, making a candle out of a beeswax sheet is cheap that one does not need to buy any coloring dye,
scented oils or molding jars. Unbelievable it is, right? Even kids can do this project with their parents.
