Curitiba is currently the paradigm of urban
sustainability. Jaime Lerner, one of his predecessors,
has managed to materialize perfectly an integral
approach (social, environmental and economic) of
sustainability until, after several decades of work,
Curitiba becomes the City of Dreams.
Residents of Curitiba, Brazil, think they live in the best
city in the world; Many outsiders agree. Curitiba has 17
new parks, 90 miles of bike lanes, trees everywhere, and
traffic and garbage collection systems that are studied
by other cities. The mayor of Curitiba for 12 years,
Jaime Lerner, has an acceptance rate of 92%.

2.000 or so residents of town Kamikatsu in Tokushima
recycle their waste according to 34 designated
categories:peeling off labels and removing bottle caps
as they go. There is also a city-wide composting system
for organic waste.
At Hibigaya waste station,Kamikatsu’s sole waste
collection spot , dozens of basckets are in place for
collecting steel cans , aluminium cans, brown glass
bottles,plastic caps and paper packages among other
thrash categories items.T he station hosts a shop where
the town’s residents can drop off items.
