Job Description:
The position is a skilled labor role, in which the Roofer works within a team, reporting to the Site foreman to lay a
variety of roofs on industrial, institutional and commercial buildings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Flat Roofer:
Install, repair or replace conventional 4 ply (built up roofing) systems using materials such as asphalt
saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel.
Install, repair or replace modified bitumen (mod-bit) roofing.
Install, repair or replace single ply roofing systems, using waterproof sheet materials such as modified
plastics or asphalt compositions.
Metal Roofer:
Install architectural sheet metal applications, including steel roofing, wall finishes, composite aluminum
wall finishes composite wall panels and custom zinc/copper applications.
Fit and join sheet metal parts using a variety of different techniques.
Shingle Roofer:
Install or replace asphalt shingles, wood shingles and shakes and masonry or baked clay roofing tiles on
sloped roofs of buildings.

Obtain the necessary
experience, skills,
knowledge and certification
and/or training to qualify for
roofer level 2.
Perform all three types of
roofing.
Act as second in command
to the site foreman.
Oversee production to ensure
efficiency in the application of
company standard operating
procedures, safety guidelines
quality of work and
deliverables and costs against
estimates.
2. Provide training to less
experienced workers.
Conduct quarterly
performance assessments of
direct reports.
Essential Qualifications:

Some experience in at least
one of the following: flat,
shingle or metal roofing.
More than 6 months
experience in the
construction industry.
Work at heights on flat or
sloped surfaces.
Learn and apply company
safety policies, practices &
procedures.
Basic English and/or French.
More than 2 years of
experience in roofing.
Experienced and
knowledgeable in flat,
shingle and metal roofing.
Ability to safely handle
propane in a construction
setting.
Soprema certification:
beginner and/or advanced .
Working at heights
certification.
Chainsaw operation.
Aerial lifts.
Hoisting/rigging (in-house).
Confined spaces awareness
certification.
First aid certification.
WHMIS certification.
Occupational safety and
health certification.
Ability to act as second in
command.
Ability to train and instruct
new workers.
Over 3 years of experience in
flat, shingle and metal
roofing.
Over 2 years of project
management experience,
which involves planning and
monitoring work for quality
and adherence to timelines
and forecasted expenses.
Ability to conduct employee
assessments.
Customer service training.
Proven ability to advise
management on ways to
improve the application and
execution of policies,
procedures and standards.
Proven ability to maintain a
safe worksite at all times.
Ability to instruct
knowledgeable workers.
Conditions of Employment:
Achieving the goals and objectives stipulated in performance appraisals.
Observing the company's safety practices and procedures at all times, without exception.
Arrive to work on time, wearing of personal protection equipment and having the required tools for the
assigned worksite project.
3. Working long or unusual hours during the peak season, often in inclement weather.
Being in good accord with colleagues and seeking dispute resolution through the offices of human
resources.
Representing the company with professionalism in dealings with clients and the public. This includes the
airing of personal views about the company while employed with us.

$38,000 Anually
$18.26/HR
(Based on a 40 hour work
week, 2,080 hours/year)
+ Annual CPI adjustment in
February.
+ 0.5% salary increase.

$21.63/HR
