OBJECTIVES: Technological solutions in media portable, accessible, positioning system, and universal access.
CONSORTIUM: R&D project of the Spanish Ministry of Industry carried out by Dos de Mayo Ltd., the firm that leads the team integrated by CESyA-Carlos III University of Madrid, CNSE Foundation, ONCE Foundation and the General Directorate of Museums and Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of Spain.
Initial scenario: Costume Museum of Madrid.
Previous Work:
Audio Guides (only audio, not accesible)
Guides (SL, Caption-> people audio disability): Louvre Museum, Tate Modern, Guggenheim (Bilbao), Reina Sofía (Madrid), etc.

Requeriments Multimedia and accesible Museum Guides
VISITOR: do not lose the atention in the artworks
Contents in alternative formats: Caption, SL, Audiodescription, Audio Navegation . Access according to the user needs, not user groups. Adaptative device according to functional diversity. 3. Requirements analysis: human factors
ICCHP 2008 3. Requirements analysis: Technological factors Audiovisual accessibility resources General criteria: alternative text to images, revision of color contrast in images, text size, easy reading... Audiodescription and audionavigation
Subtitling and visual alerts
Sign language
Other tools: contrast modifier, magnifier, etc.
ICCHP 2008 3. Requirements analysis: User interaction
Interaction with the guide:
Positioning system helps user to knows its phisical position in the museum and it is used as a way to give a quick link to the artworks you have in front of you.
In the museum setting:
Personeel should be trained, and elecronic guides must be conveniently advertised, so people with disabilites know that there is a system that they can use.
4.- Accesibility mecanisms
ICCHP 2008 4 . Findings and future lines
CONCLUSIONS:
Proposal for the requirements to apply in the design of a multimedia guide in the context of museums.
Accessibility mecanisms based on standards, norms, research and user experience.
Can be apllied to other contexts that involved the use of multimedia guides.
FUTURE WORK:
Iterative process : permanent validation of the requirements during all the process.
Expert report : document with recommendations and best practices for including accessibility requirements in Virtual Guides in the museum domain.
