Distorted high-resolution video can be caused by an outdated graphics card driver or incompatibility with DirectDraw. To troubleshoot:
1. Upgrade the graphics card driver by downloading the latest version from the manufacturer's website.
2. Disable DirectDraw acceleration in the graphics card settings which may degrade video quality but resolve distortions.
3. As a last resort, replace the graphics card if the issue persists after other steps.
