2. The Dust Bowl was a very difficult time
for many reasons. In this photo essay I
will show you some of the hardships
that many Americans during this time
period were forced to face.
3. The Dust Bowl swallowed the country side in dust, blocking out
the sky making it a very dry and barren place.
4. Because of the lack of sunlight and the
incredible winds caused by the dust
storms, many farmers crops were detroyed.
5. Several families were forced to live in makeshift homes like this one because
they were forced to move so they could find work. This was a very difficult
time in American history.
6. Other farmers stayed and tried to deal with the lack of crops and
money by continuing to hope for the dust storm to end.
7. While others were forced to leave because they were not
able to make money to provide for their families.
8. Many men were in desperate need for a job in order to support their families.
9. Many families lost everything in the Dust Bowl. There was very
little for them to survive and make money.
11. Many people were forced to abandon their farms
due to severe financial loss because they were
unable to grow any crops to make money.
12. The Dust Bowl was very destructive. It destroyed not only the peoples
possessions, but also the people’s hope.
