    • Tides are the daily rise and fall of the water in the ocean
    • Sea Level – 0 meters (feet)
    • Water Level – how high or low the water is above or below sea level
    • High & Low Tides – each day the water level is high 2 times and low 2 times
    • Causes – the oceans
    • on earth follow the
    • Moon as it revolves
    • around the Earth
    • (Revolution & Gravity)
  • 3. Neap Tide
    • When the water level on Earth is equal
    • Happens during 1 st and Last Quarter Moon phases
    • The Sun, Earth and Moon are at a right angle, like an L
    Last Quarter 1 st Quarter
  • 4. Spring Tides
    • When the water level on Earth is its highest and lowest
    • Happens during New and Full Moon phases
    • The Sun, Earth and Moon are all in a straight line
