What is it?

 Pica is a eating disorder
 A appetite for nonfood objects
 Many children have pica but then it
stops at a certain age but for some it
doesn’t stop it just comes back .
LADYGAGA EATING PAPER XD
Who usually has it?

Pica is more common with children and
women but it affects all ages.
Also it is seen with pregnant women
  and those with growing up
  disabilities like autism
Pica also can be found in animals like
  dogs
causes

 What causes pica?
 Pica is sometimes caused by the lack
  of iron
 Also it can be caused by mental
  disorders or obsession
 Or sometimes because you just want
  to chew on something
What kind of non-food objects?

 Non-food objects
  include:
 Ice
 Sand
 Paper
 Dirt
 Clay
 Cement
 And many more!!
harmful

Pica can be harmful because :
The non-food object can contain lead poisoning
which can cause damage to the brain
Can cause tearing in the stomach
Also dirt or sand can contain animal feces or
  parasites.
How is it good to your body?

Some of the non-food objects that are eaten by
people with Pica are good because they have
nutrients and good stuff in them .
For example:
Ice is made of water so the more ice you eat the
  more water you get
Dirt has nutrients that your body needs or lacks
But pica doesn’t do much damage to your body.
Iron pills
Sometimes when you have PICA you probably need iron pills to
receive the iron you need.
Pica just comes and go to
some people
 Pica however can not be prevented you just
need to pay more close attention to your
children because when they are at a young
age they will most likely eat non-food objects
 If you have pica you should go to the doctor
and get a blood test so that if what you eat
doesn't include anything bad for your body.
WHY PICA CAN BE BAD?
Pica can cause brain damage
    but it depends on what
    non-food object you eat
If you eat non-food objects
like ice you will most likely
be ok but other objects like
    cement, sand and dirt are
    not okay.
Small children can choke on
    small objects like on
    sand,ice,chalk ,etc.
Cause serious disease
    disorders
why Pica should be prevented?

 To prevent poisoning
 Stomach problems
 It is inappropriate
 Having Pica is a sign of
  emotional problems
  like stress and
  development problems
 Ruining you teeth from
  eating sand
